What video game are you currently playing?

I finished Bastion (yay) and a few minutes ago I used Sin’s shrine for Dragon Warrior to see if I was standing on the wrong spot (just a bit off). Heh.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of RPGC’s Wild ARMs 3 contest, I’m finally playing it.

I know it hasn’t been quite 10 years because we held it much later in the year but oh well.

Tried picking up Dragon Age Origins again after I got obsessed with Leage of Legends…didn’t go well. I’m finishing the Arl of Radcliffe quest and I got into the castle, but can get past this one room with a ton of Marbari hounds tht keep mauling me to death.

Goddamn does that GameFAQs guide for Growlanser II sucks ass. I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to figure out what triggers what since there’s a path split and three missable event battles at the part of the game that I’m in but the guide basically states to proceed with the plot after only one of the three missable event battles, and it doesn’t even mention the fact that this one particular scene basically changes the point in the plot you’re in and locks you out of the stuffs prior to. And that’s not even going near the other optional events, some of which are imperative to complete in order to recruit other characters later on down the line that the guide doesn’t even mention except in the general tips part and well after the fact.

Meanwhile I went and done what anybody who has access to Suki II needs to do and take out the trash. Got it in one. Now to do the same in my speedrun file.

Look for any levers in the room.

Mass Effect 3 has one of the worst endings I have ever experienced. CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE COLOR, SHEPARD!

I’d be surprised if it were worse than Mass Effect 2. Absurd boss! Pat on Shep’s head. Menace! The end.

Apparently you need 4000 effective whattheycallthem so you can get the “good” ending.

I think you’re confusing it with an earlier quest where you can let some hounds out to help you…This a room in the castle where they are enemies. Anyway, I cheated a little bit and used the overhead view to toss in an Inferno so they were at lesss than half life and killable.

Finished the Arl of Redcliffe quest and thinking about where to go next.

In Leage of Legends I’m a couple hundred points away from unlocking Kennen, the lightning shuriken ninja yordle.

There is no good ending, but you need 5000 effective thingiddies for the “best” ending.

And it is worse than ME2. Much worse. So much worse. The shit you do in ME1 and 2? Your paragon and renegade score? All the alliances you made throughout the game? Apart from how many idiot points you get, it affects nothing. Nothing you have done throughout the series has any impact on anything whatsoever. It’s a huge fucking disappointment.

Yeah, is it true what I’m hearing? That they basically just ripped off that pseudo-philosophical Architecht bullshit from the end of the last Matrix film? And it comes out of nowhere with no thematic buildup (whereas at least the Matrix series was ALWAYS about being “deep” so there it kinda fit) so it comes off as arbitrary, disjointed, and inconsistent with the rest of the game’s plot?

And now nobody can say that Bioware isn’t filled with hacks.

Anyways it turns out I very nearly screwed myself over in my Suki II speed run file due to going off to visit the Toran Republic before checking in on Clive’s Quest at Radat. Unfortunately once you recruit your chosen female general you can’t actually revisit Radat until after you fight the Blight and I had only forty minutes to get back from Toran, gear up some front line fighters, go through all the cut scenes and war battles in between, and then actually fight through all of Luca’s bullshit (which was probably the most time consuming part and I probably should have made everyone take a dive and rely entirely on my MC). It took several attempts before I managed to make it under the time limit but now I have only five hours left to recruit all the remaining stars and effectively beat the game. That said, my last failed attempt fell short by seven minutes the cause being Ridley not going down like the chump he is during the battle and instead procting two Criticals in a row which led the rest of my army to show up on the first turn and after several turns I eventually rescued him from almost certain capture.

And on the Grow 2 front, I’ve now recruited every playable character available to my current route, additionally, I found a GameFAQs guide that doesn’t suck balls.

Pretty much, yeah. And it might have been because a focus group didn’t like the original ending.

Replayed ME2 before 3 came out, played 3, not…sure about the ending. I don’t know if there’s any truth to the fact the real ending will be DLC and what we saw was actually a complete indoctrination mindtrip, time will tell. I’ll let you guys google to see the videos and articles about that theory.

Besides that, uh, finished World of Warcraft with my guild on normal, enthousiasm is pretty non-existant to tackle Heroic shit so we’re chilling. I bought The Old Republic a few months back, hit 50, now I’m bored of it unless I do dungeons or play with friends (really what happens to me with any MMO: Friends or GTFO)

ME3’s multiplayer is really fun. It’s like Horde, but with Mass Effect. You get levels, you get credits, you buy gear…it’s an enjoyable thing.

I also started Starcraft 2 again, playing against Onionkid last night as we try to get the hang of things. Half of you may go ‘who?’ and the other half probably will go ‘Oh, THAT GUY!’. :hahaha;

Been playing a game called Kamidori Alchemy Meister. Maybe a little too much… (Had 25+ hours playtime after two day. >_>)
Kind of like Recettear in that you manage a shop and most of the gameplay is dungeon romps to find materials for stuff to make. Kamidori is more based around plot than “CAPITALISM HO!” though.

Is anyone else playing SWTOR?

I’ve been playing Xenosaga Episode 1 again lately. Well, watching Xenosaga. I’d forgotten how many cutscenes that game had. I’m almost tempted to replay it again once I’m done and just skip 'em all, so I can see how much game there actually is.

Worked my way through the quest in Redcliffe quest and fought off the zombies and saved Connor. I left Jowan alive because I felt bad for betraying him in the origin. I tattled on him to Irving then told him that I ratted him out after he destroyed his phylactery. Then I started the Nature of Beast quest in the forest.

All was good and well until my computer started acting funky and found out my hard drive was failing…damn I sound lke Wil now :).

Anyway, I made a thready in the tech support forum if anyone reading this has any experience with this sort of thing.

Man. Looking back through the thread, I can’t believe I made a post about this. Especially since I’ve beaten that score with 11588 that took 64 seconds to complete within the last couple of days.

Err…

What I really meant to post about was finally getting past that one chapter in FEVII that I’ve been stuck on since Oct. 10th of last year yesterday. Managed to do everything I set out to do aside from saving and recruiting Wallace (had I not gone in blind I might have been able to set something up but welp). Ironically one of the closest shaves during my successful run was nearly losing Bartre to a stray Myrmidon who slipped past my makeshift blockade near Merlinus (can’t use the chokepoint because A) it’s within Lloyd’s range and the stage ends with his defeat and B) holding the chokepoint won’t protect me against the bullshit enemy reinforcements that’d pop up directly behind me or in front of me). Hector nearly bought the farm as well at one point too when a bunch of well armed, high level Myrmidons and Priests dogpiled him (this was sort of planned since the best solution I could come up with was to assemble what few tanks I had into a makeshift wall to protect my healer and my second wall which kinda formed a box shaped formation and I knew that he was eventually going to get dogpiled and barely survive due to previous attempts). Even Dodgetank Priscilla nearly ended the run early by taking a ballista to the face (though it probably helped me in the long run given the AI’s tendency to chase after units near death despite the odds of a successful hit which helped take the heat off of Sain and Legault as Sain performs Operation Sain Pain Train and Legault acts as spotter/backup).

Basically my winning strategy consisted of A) clearing out the starting area of enemies (in particular a pair of Dragon Knights, a Purge sniping Bishop, and a random Hero with a shiny Red Gem in his pockets), B) using Hector and Lowen with Eliwood on support to form a makeshift blockade north of my starting point to protect Rebecca as she snipes incoming Dragon Knights/Monks and draws/soaks up Ballista fire from the southern Ballista), C) have Sain, Priscilla, and Legault (Lyn kinda tagged along to clean up the occasional straggler despite her being made of/cutting like paper) break through the cluster of Mercenaries to the east of my starting point and rush towards the two village (one’s just north of the Merc clusterfuck and the other is on the opposite end of the map from my starting point) before turn 8 rolls around (while drawing some northern Ballista fire in the process) in what I call Operation Sain Pain Train, D) have Canus, Hector, Lowen, Rebecca, and Eliwood act as a wall for Serra and Ninian as they support/heal my wall as they repel wave after wave of Myrmidons, high level/well armed Myrmidons that can easily wreck most people’s shit, well armed Monks, and the bullshit reinforcements that spring up on the west side of my starting point (consisting of Mercs and Monks), E) have Bartre somehow pick off enough stragglers to hit level 10 so that I can force promote him for the Karla requirement and not die since he sucks badly in this run, F) have the Sain Pain Train deal with a dangerous Sniper that broke loose from the Ballista he was manning before he can cause too much damage, G) once turn 13 rolls around and provided everybody but Wallace survives level grind Bartre to Warrior level 5 and both Eliwood and Lyn to Lord level 20 in the arena now that I no longer have to keep my Lords collective level beneath a total of 50, H) hopefully promote Sain and Rebecca as well (by the end of Operation Sain Pain Train Sain has just enough to promote despite the fact that it was Legault who scored a lucky crit on the wandering Sniper; Rebecca falls just short of 20 by the time turn 13 rolls around and it isn’t until the other errant Ballista Sniper shows up out of nowhere to attack my level grinding party, where he makes the mistake of aiming for Canus who still has Nosferatu equipped and now has support Bartre, and I let Rebecca give him a taste of his own medicine by making him eat a Ballista bolt which pushes her up to promotion time), I) build some support levels (Eliwood and Ninian are now A, Sain and Serra are now B, Bartre and Canus are now C, and Eliwood and Lowen are now ready for a C (but I won’t do this since I have other plans), J) hit up the shops (including the Secret one) and load up on supplies for the rest of the game, and finally K) deal with Lloyd without him killing anybody (ended up having Sain draw him out from his spot and having him tank his attacks while Legault snuck in and went on a shopping spree at the secret shop then finishing with Rebecca for an easy level).

And now for stage 25… (Actually, it shouldn’t be all that bad from here on now that I’ve got a much larger pool of promoted units to draw from and I doubt I’ll waste so much time trying to level grind again.)

Can a game be slower than Etrian Odyssey? I think even Dungeon Master had faster movement animation.

Got Xenoblade Chronicles yesterday. Got to town and started doing random crap. Apparently there’s a lot of random crap to do. Now I’m delivering a lunch.

FEdit: Cleared chapter 27 yesterday. Now for the fun of HHM Night of Farewells. At least I’m not toting around a bunch of prepromotes this time (save for Hector).

FEditGaiden: Cleared chapter 28 yesterday. Now for the fun of HHM Night of Farewells (side quest). Amusingly more difficult than the last stage given my inability to simply go all out. Took a couple of tries to clear 28, the penultimate one making it all the way to the final turn with only two enemies left on the field, all available loot gathered, all three NPCs alive, Nino recruited, sidequest unlocked, and boss killed when Heath ate a Luna crit to the face (the bastard only had a 5% chance on him too :scream: ).
