Heath bars? o_o Never heard about those before (unsurprisingly, because the good stuff never reaches us up here, or it does, but then it gets taken off the shelves 6 months later, grr).
(Edit: Yes, the first thing I did was to google it. I was merely expressing my surprise at the existence of this candy bar. :P)
Then you should come to Jawja when Vicki visits for some The Varsity. We can also go to Dairy Queen. Hell. I’ll throw in Chick-fil-a and, while not actually fast food, Waffle House too. It’ll be a veritable smorgasbord fast food and Southern charm.
Edit: I just referenced the animated Charlotte’s Web. And I didn’t even mean to. Sigh.
waffle house :3 cheese burger value meals :3 (though I normally go for chicken mcnuggets. gotta love the sweet and sour sauce.)
Also, I miss good donuts. :o
You think you’ve got it bad? There’s nothing 'round these parts ‘cept [STRIKE]wads of congealed lard[/STRIKE] Krispy Kreams. There’s not a Dunkin’ Donuts in miles and miles.
Funny you feel that way. In Grand Rapids, MI, there was basically a celebration when Krispy Kreme opened a drive-thru (!) restaurant. Till then there were only Dunkin Donuts and Dawn Donuts, whose donut sales have suffered ever since.
The one thing I like about Tim Hortons is that I could eat a big meal there every day, and say without hesitation (or sagging jowls or a double chin), “I’m not cutting 5-10 years off my life by doing this.” Not eating their donuts, which are bad anyway and tend to be stale, but their sandwiches, which are consistently high-quality.
Ever since I moved to Sacramento, I’ve been eating way too much fast food. But yeah, I like McDonald’s, and yes, I like their pies. When I was in college (the first time, back in 2001), my roommate used to work at McD’s, and he’d sometimes smuggle a bunch of pies out after closing (ah, those were the days…). But anyway, I usually get two double cheeseburgers and a McChicken (not bad for 3 bucks), although sometimes when I’m in the mood for something else, I get a couple apple pies or their fruit and yogurt parfaits.
You’ve obviously never had a real and good donut. I used to have a place I’d go to almost every day in high school and sometimes in college where I would buy a freshly baked, warm, fluffy, light donut for half the price of a stale, tasteless, hard and dry small piece of crap from TH. DD is slightly better than TH. KK is tasty but god damn, its just too much o_o.
Oh, I’ve had real and good donuts. The Donut Mill about 90 minutes north of Calgary makes some deeeeeelicious cream-filled donuts. They kick the pants off of Tim Hortons, but Tim Hortons is cheap and convenient. :\ Case in point, there’s only 1 Krispy Kreme in Calgary. If you want non-Tim Hortons here, it’s drive to KK or buy them from Safeway.
American scones are supposed to be dry and crumbly, British scones are more like biscuits. I’d assume Starbucks’ ones are more stale since they sit out.
I’ve boycotted McDonald’s from my diet ever since I’ve had an unfortunate episode after eating some McNuggets. I never really eat at fast food restaurants any more besides that, other than local pizza places, or the occasional chicken fingers at my local bar/restaurant.
