Gaming Moments that made you cry...

Okay. Considering that I don’t play much RPGs that are “the norm”, here’s a few moments…

Persona 2 : Innocent Sin - At the end, when you realize your struggle was all for naught, as it was Maya Amano who was the virgin sacrifice in the Oracle of Maya, and not Maya Okamura (who KILLS Maya under the influence of Nyarlathotep.

Persona 2 : Eternal Punishment - After Sumaru Castle, the town is plunged into the Monado Mandala, Nyarlathotep’s world, and you realize that it STILL was all for naught…unless you stop Nyarlathotep from making the three kids from Innocent Sin remember the Other Side.

And this one is not an RPG

Shin Nekketsu Kouha : Kunio Tachi No Banka - When Sabu decides to settle this once and for all, and shoots Kunio and Riki’s girlfriends, then escapes.

There was only one game that brought me to tears. And thats still my all-time favorite ever (perhaps because of that…). Its Ultima 7 Part 2 The Serpents Isle. Its when one of your party members dies (or better: sacrifices himself so that your alter-ego, the avatar doesn’t have to do it). I mean it can be sad if a character dies because the story wants him to, but I think it is different when you had this character in your party for several games/sequels. Since you have him in your paty through all of Ultima 4,5,6,7 and he becomes a trusted friend (along with many others) and you are happy when you meet him in the next game and get him into your party and rescue him from precarious situations and then— he finally dies… man THAT was really… unbelievable… a shock… I wept… then I thought: Great! Super! Really emotional! Wow!

Its one of the strong factors why I like the Ultima games so very much and kinda prefer them to FFs. Another fine example: When you have the characters Iolo and Gwenno in your party in Ultima 6 and when you return to the world in Ultima 7 and these two have married in the meantime and Iolo tells you Gwenno, his wife, has gone on a mission to a distant land and didn’t return and in Ultima 7 Part 2 you will find and free her and she meets Iolo (who is of course in your party) again… then you feel also very very lucky.

Hmm.

Legend of Mana:
The whole final scene with the Jumi when the hero sheds a tear for them, turning him to stone but reviving them made me cry.

Chrono Cross: The Miguel fight also got me- a combination of the really sad music and the purpose behind it got to me.

I think that’s it.

Yeah, those were sad, too. I cried at the LoM thing (kinda ironic, methinks), but the Chrono Cross thing wasn’t really worth it. I was too pissed about dying twice on him!

He beat me once. That fight and the Dario battle were the only difficult ones really.

Dario was a bitch. ><

I was obsessed with the idea of killing him normally, without the aid of the Black Plate and Element attacks.

I’ve never cried during an RPG. The closest times have all been from Skies of Arcadia. There’s the part with Drachma staying on the Little Jack, being dragged to almost certain death.

Then, when Drachma was found again was probably the most touching scene in the game, but if I cried at all, it would’ve been for joy.

Finally, just the scene right after the final boss is done so well and the music just has that sense of “well, people have died, but we must move on and rebuild our world.” It just had the sense of tremendous loss mixed with a glimmer of hope at the end.

Oh, Kagon the sheep dying in HM64 made me sad. ;_;

You name your animals after RPGC people too?

I think my Kagon was a cow, not a sheep, though.

I made Sin a sheep for the pure irony of it.

who else did you name?

I got the idea to do that from you, Flint.

man, I better play the HM games sometime, just so I can name the animals after stuff.

Getting Gau made me cry ;_; i hate him. allot.

Seeing Celes loneliness on that island after the world was harshly remolded…

One of CT endings, in which everybody departs and then Crono and Nadia fly over Guardia.

 You read that one issue of EGM too, eh? XD

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Nah, I have the rom, and I ritually drown Moses at least once a day. Besides, we don’t get EGM here :stuck_out_tongue:

It is virtually impossible for me to cry, ever. I haven’t cried in 4-5 years. Nothing makes me cry, not movies, real life events, or video games.

I have never cried at a game, but I was very strongly moved by some, especially Final Fantasy X.

Only one thing in a video game EVER made me cry, the ending after the epilogue of Lunar 2.

Come to think of it again, the ending to Beyond Oasis was very moving to me for some reason (No I’m not trying to milk every post, it’s just that I can’t remember most of these moments) The ending to Ocriana of Time was very touching as well. Oh, and most of the Karen scenes from Front Mission moved me as well. Front Mission…thinking of remix

Oh, and just for the hell of it…

Aeris dies

Aeris dies

Aeris dies

And did I mention…

Aeris dies

Lucky Seanbaby posted it on his website, too.

Can you please cut the Aeris Dies crap? Is there someone who HASN’T read the spoiler by now?

I almost cried when

I got killed by a butterfly in Nethack. Stupid butterflies…

And when I saw half of a messageboard calling Legend of Dragoon the greatest RPG ever because of the purty cinematics

And when some kid accidentally tapped my FF6 cart mid-play, erasing all my data and making me start over again from scartch. I had gotten all of the characters back in the WoR

:stuck_out_tongue:
