Free RO

I stick by my belief you people should play good mmorpgs if you’ll have to pay for it.

RO is cool ^^

And it is much more fun then D2, I actually party more in RO then in D2, and at higher lvls it is much more imporant to party… in D2, you can get to ANY lvl by yourself.

And latchs onto Kagon

TAKE ME WITH YOU!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

:kissy:

Diablo’s not an mmorpg either 8P

8 Players max per game is not Massive.

Umm… I never said it WAS

infact, I was supporting the DIFFRENCES between the two.

:kissy:

Yeah, Diablo is just a hacker infested wasteland of a game =P

And I think RO is a very good game so bah! =P

Diablo may not be an MMORPG, but at least it has a decent smack of gameplay.

The reason RO is so addicting, IMO, cause its a mix of IRC and RPG, combined with smooth music :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL
See? I told you so :stuck_out_tongue:

And If I have to choose to pay between Evequest, UO, or iRO, I’d pick iRO

save your money for either Star Wars Galaxies or Worlds of Warcraft, those are the next two with the biggest probability of being good.

It shows you people never played good mmorpgs , Kag 8P

Oh yeah, I’m sure everyone will move to WoW when it moves out. Big chance there, dude. They’ll get their own deal of bugs and disconnection problems, like every MMORPGs
And I don’t rate games till it actually comes out.

Have you, Sin? I’m just wondering that. You know how everyone says that FFXI is supposed to be the greatest thing ever? AS far as lag goes it’s a hell of a lot worse than RO ever was, and that’s one of the main points of an MMORPG. Also, I’m wondering what makes this different so much than any other MMORPG, other than using sprties instead of polygons.

Edit: Actually, have you even played RO? Or are you just basing judgements on hearsay again?

Well, I have absolutely no faith that World of Warcraft will be remotely decent. Considering Blizzard’s most recent record, I’m expecting a wonderfully unbalanced game with loads of hackers. Now let’s get to the community- the community can easily make or break a MMORPG. It killed a lot of shards in Ultima Online. Now, if we’re going to look at WC fans, let’s look to bnet. Most of the people I’ve encountered on WC3 bnet are the scum of the universe. I’ve never before had the displeasure to meet such assholes that wantonly treat people like shit because they can. Gee, let’s throw them in a MMORPG. There’s no way in hell I’d pay to put up with them.

Booken: I said it had the best chances, simply because they have the best licenses, best investments, and some of the best computer game developers out there working on them. They aren’t a guaranteed success, but they have a good shot at it, better than most.

Kagon: For one, the kind of people who buy RTS games aren’t always the same who buy MMORPGs, and I doubt there are seriously enough “Warcraft fanboys” out there who will be a significant piece of the game’s user base regardless of its genre. Secondly, I don’t understand what you’re talking about in regards to Blizzard’s record, they probably have the most consistent good-games-developer of anyone else in the business (Warcraft 1-3, Starcraft, Diablo 1-2, etc.), no one else can reel off the strength of games like Blizzard can. Have you seen any of the news about WoW? It looks like it’s going to be the first visually-stunning MMORPG released, it’ll likely have a great story to it due to the Warcraft universe, and Blizzard is known for delaying games and getting system requirements down to reasonable levels (D2’s 256 colors anyone?). And lastly, WoW won’t be a BNet game, the same kinds of people won’t be in both games (especially since snotty kids likely won’t have the dough to participate), and most large communities are jerk-ridden anyway, what’s important is finding a group you’re comfortable hanging out with.

As with any game, wait till it comes out before you judge it, but in terms of forecasting the only 4 MMORPGs out there that have the best chances of being great games is Everquest 2, WoW, FFXI and Star Wars Galaxies. Everything else lies far more in doubt.

And as a tip for you RO people who are still going to stick with the game, I suggest you not start paying for it until the summer is mostly over, lots of times these games debut with huge problems and it takes them months before it starts being worthwhile to use.

Did you like, miss the point about hackers? None of Blizzard’s game are fun to play with people you don’t know because of all the hacks out there, and using Diablo 2 as one of your points was a really bad idea since it is horribly hacked to the point where it simply isn’t any fun at all to play.

Actually, Merl, go read Forum Rule 13.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> I think you’re overreacting a little bit when you accuse Merl of trolling. Just a little.

Meh, whatever. He admitted he’s doing it to piss me off anyway.

If people want to go on how much RO sucks, they should make their own threads about it and stop bugging us with it

Well Merl, I’ve watched the bnet/Blizzard whatever you want to call it community has degenerated massively since the days of original Starcraft. Adding hacks and all that just made things worse since playing with random people ended up in one of a few things:

  1. They were complete assholes.
  2. They hacked.
  3. They were complete assholes that hacked.
4 and very rarely) You met a nice guy.

It won’t be a bnet game? So? And by Blizzard’s record I mean, look at WC3 for example. The game is horribly unbalanced. If you look at the beta, you see weak attempts to balance it that end up horribly unbalancing it just in another direction. Wow.

The snotty kids might not have the money to fund it, but the snotty kids’ parents probably do. Just because it’s pay to play doesn’t mean you’re going to keep a significant portion away from it.

And eh, I’m not complaining about system requirements really.
