From one extreme to another, from rapist to genocidal idiocy…what would that solve? You’d kill bad people but that doesn’t make you a good person. I don’t know why those people did not act but I do know there is nothing we can do just sitting here and shouting meaningless demands for death. The best we can do is instill the generations to come with a better sense of morality and to aid others.

Amen to that, Ren!:enguard:

Which is nothing more than wishful thinking.

WHAT THE HECK??? [/b]

I’m sure they would have been excused from being late for work if they had said, “Sorry I’m late, had to help this girl who was BEING RAPED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!”

Of course, whenever I think about the Good Samaritan issue with regard to this kind of thing, I imagine if the opposite were true; if you saw this girl’s father beating the rapist to death, and you had to save him?

But that’s beside the point. The point is, those passers-by lacked the essential decency to act when they saw something obviously evil was going on. I wonder if this kind of thing would happen in an American metropolis.

/me shudders to think.

Let’s make this clear. That act is intolerable, sick and cowardly. While educating the future generations and giving them a sense of morality is important, the criminals of our time should receive their due punishment.

Discusting. Manus, first, you are saying they should be killed etc, then when Zero says you are wrong, you agree. Which is it?

Actually, I blame the Japanese.

And man, this is so fucked up, I can’t find the words to describe it. Whatever happened to using masturbation to release sexual energy? Uh…forget I said that…

Hentai is seriously deranged. Period. Another Period.

Leave it to me to slip in a Tron joke in a thread about rape.

They forgot True Love, which is about the best one ever made.

A disgusting incident…and, ah yes, how much it must help the world for a bunch of impotent (mostly) adolescents to sit here ranting about how much better they’d act in such a situation than the citizens of Germany.

Get over yourselves. Some of us here would actually help in such a situation, and some of us wouldn’t. As much as everyone here’d like to say they’d don a suit of shiny armor and race to save the damsel in distress, no one here has they right to say with any surity that they definitely would, unless they’ve already been in such a situation. Intentions mean nothing when it comes to action in certain situations. As confident as I am of my morality mentally, I know that in action I am much less direct. For example, my enduring shame - over a year ago, still back in high school, some jackasses were teasing this one kid because he was ethnically Arab - they were saying bad crap, too. Stuff like “Going to blow up some buildings, man?” It wasn’t the joking stuff you get going between friends, either. Why didn’t I speak up? I was embarassed - it’s that simple.

And for those of you declaring your undying hatred for and intent to throttle the rapist…go to hell. First off, you’re not fooling anyone. I’m willing to bet that if you even got CLOSE to a violent criminal, and he/she wasn’t behind bars or anything, you’d be shakin’ in your skivvies, not making threats. Secondly, remember those stories of societies where thievery was punished by cutting off someone’s hand? You’re just as barbaric.

I’d like to take a moment and do something I normally don’t do - single someone out. As much a fan I am of making decrees to a broad, general audience, Manus Dei, your conduct in this thread is absolutely disgusting. You complain about people lacking morality, and spend half of your time jumping around ranting about bloody vengeance. I mention this because this isn’t the first thread you’ve done it in, either. As far as I can tell, you’re a complete hypocrite.

Lastly, I’d like to point out that the criminal in the incident is, after all the ranting and raving is done, the rapist. Condemning the bystanders or punishing them would have absolutely no effect on that fact. Even if every person in that town 'sides the rapist was indeed a knight in shining armor, ready to come to the rescue of the victim, how would that change the initiation of the original crime (even if it might change the outcome)? I repeat, the criminal is the rapist. It’s sad and pathetic that the…spectators, I’ll call them…didn’t do anything, but they weren’t the ones committing the rape. Condemning them won’t stop people from being rapists in the future.

I am saddened by this story, but I still hold hope for humanity in general. Those people probably didn’t want to get hurt, so they didn’t interfere. I’m holding to that explanation, for Self-preservation often overrules our urge to do good.

Something is weird with the connection. I was replying to the previous statement, but it seems his reply got here first.

And who are you calling a hypocrite, Rogue?! I would rather die before allowing such sick bastards to prey on people! I know I may sound a bit extremist, but there is NO EXCUSE for those actions. People who do such things are filth, and they tarnish the face of humanity!

I agree with everything RPT said.except, with the spectators, if you witness a crime, if you dont report it, you are an acomplice. The initiation of the crime is not important, what is important is that it happened and no one stood up for the girl.

I personally agree.Sowwy Manny gives you a flower but you do seem to change your opinion whenever someone points out the flaws in your words. Zero basically said what I was thinking in the first two lines of what he said. Killing someone or inflicting the same kind of pain onto them wont do anything.

That is quite true also. I don’t know about anyone else, but I may not fall into such a category.Mind you, I’ve never watched someone get raped and stand back, I’ve never been forced into that situation. I can understand the witnesses POV, but I’m still mad about it. Ranting and raving is a way to vent about things we would have like to do.

For example, my enduring shame - over a year ago, still back in high school, some jackasses were teasing this one kid because he was ethnically Arab - they were saying bad crap, too. This is what i was talking about no applying to me. I’ve actualyl stood up for people and have taken the heat in a lot of situations like these, because I feel extremely bad for someone who has to go through it.However I suffered for years because of it.Anyone who does not know the extent of a kid’s cruelty is living in a dreamworld. But it’s kind of worth it, to share that pain so it doesn’t single anyone out.But it’s scary once you’re the target, and learing from this I can understand about the situation in Germany, or anything like that.
Humans can say all they want (including I) but we can be cowards at heart. Not until the situation directly affects us, will we be able to state what we’d do. But it’s natural to say something and do the opposite.Human nature I guess. I pretty much agree with your whole post, even though I see a bit of my own behavior and faults in it. Well said.

My cousin was rape. But it was her own flaut. She always wore these skimpy outfits, and she always had lots of boyfriends. But, here in texas, I gusse anything could go wrong. Shame on thee… man, what a jerk. V_V

You say that nobody would have the guts to face such murderous fiends, but they don’t scare me! I don’t care about the consequences, if I saw something like that, I would jump in and fend him off, no matter the cost! I’m not afraid of that scum! I don’t care about my safety if someone else is in danger! And I don’t care if you people don’t understand that.

Calm down Manus… don’t ge too firey. pats Manus on the head and gives him a hug

OK, I think I may just have to throw up… runs out of the room, to throw up

Five Minutes later…
casually walks back in Now where was I? Oh yes, I don’t belive that. First none of those people even bother to help, that is just plain MORONIC!! :fungah: If I saw that happening, I would help no matter how big the guy was!! :enguard:

And secondly I can’t believe that the guy managed to get out of jail. So now he is free and able to do it again, whenever he wants!! :hyperven:

If this is what the world’s people are become, I wish something would come along and either get rid of them, or make them just wise up, and quickly!!!

Being raped usually has nothing to do with what you wear though:p

I know, but where I live in Texas, you expose yourselve its just like saying, “come into my bed, big boy.” In Amarillo, (my town) teenagers are more after the sexual needs today. Which is actually sick!:fungah: :fungah: :fungah:
