Non-CA residents wouldn’t know that Arnold broke all his campaign promises while campaigning and that he came to my university to speak and the most productive (and repeated) thing he said was “we’re going to say asta la vista to the problems”. You guys might not think you’re doomed cuz you live other states, but if CA gets fucked , so will you since CA is a massive economic force in the US 8P.
The beauty in all this is that this is the 2nd time in less than 5 years that the republicans steal an election and install a puppet figure as the head of a state.
And Innocence, Jesse Ventura didn’t get booted. He got elected and had very good chances of being re-elected had he chosen to run.
Yeah, if CA’s economy dies off, we’re not in great shape. Heck, CA was in the top 10 of the world’s largest economies (kinda scary if you think about it).

I hate to break it too you, but CA isn’t traveling in that direction, it’s sliding up the coast.

#3 behind the rest of the US and Japan, wasn’t it?

Except he can’t run for presidency. He’s from Austria, remember?
I am generally saddened and angered about this. Most people voted for him on the fact that he was Arnold. Nothing more. I’m also assuming that this will translate into Bush being able to steal the California vote in 2004. I wanted Jack Grisham of TSOL to win. So Cal punk rocks!

Aren’t they now pushing for an amendment to allow non-native born Americans to become president?
I’m just saying that a desperate/angry/fed up populace electing a charismatic Austrian immigrant to office has a historical track record of leading to not-so-good things…

Next thing you know, the US falls to an invasion by Switzerland.
Meh. Alot of amendments have been pushed. Thousands. Know how many have actually been ratified? 27, with 11 (yes 11, not 10, 11) of those being among the original 12 proposed and accepted by Congress. You’ll more likely find the ERA, balanced budget, or No Flag Burning amendments passed first. Hell, direct election of the Prez and Veep is an amendment more likely to be adopted than an amendmet allowing foreigners that have been a citizen of the US for 20 or more years to be elected Prez.
If he succeeds in reconciling the budget crisis, and perhaps reversing the tuition hike (or at least preventing another one)… then “go Arnold.” Reagan had never held political office either, and I think he was a decent governor (and he was a typical conservative).
Better to be optimistic about this whole thing than immediately start throwing stones. I’ll admit that this whole thing has me cringing, but we didn’t really have an alternative.

Actually the republicans are more likely to lose california in 04 because there really isn’t a damn thing anyone can do about the cali budget crisis thing. Arnold dosen’t fix things, then he is showing a weakness in the party and voters won’t go for it.
