Sushi.

Ok…this is going to sound really stupid but…i am scared of sushi…

I dont mean like, “eww sushi, gross!” i mean, i will not eat it, i will not go near it, and will not eat at a resturant that serves it.

Why? Because i am paranoid of getting food posioning. I saw my brother get it back as a kid, and watching him puke his brains out every 30 seconds scarred me. Than i saw a show on TV where they had victims of sushi food poisoning, and that just did it. I cant even be around the stuff now.

I was wondering, have any of you ever gotten sick from sushi? Even slightly? Or know someone who has?

I eat sushi 2-3 times a week and have never gotton sick.

No and no.

I haven’t eaten a lot of it though, mostly because the closest place that sells sushi untill recently was in another town and difficult to access.

And you should be careful about eating sushi, anything that is raw really. The human stomach has become a wuss and doesn’t handle raw food very well.

Yeah, I eat it really very often as well-- raw fish is the only “meat” I eat…

If you are careful about where you get it, it shouldn’t be a problem…

Wassabi on the other hand grins Watch out for that stuff…

[edit: I suppose I should add that a lot of my friends eat it just as often as I do, and none of us have ever gotten even slightly ill from it]

Nope, and I’ve eaten a lot of sushi. Some of it just consists of rice and vegetables - there’s little room for poisoning, there.

Wasabi might look like it’s icecream, but it isn’t. It doesn’t melt, instead it melts the person that eats it.

I’ve eaten it once, it was edible but not something I’d use a lot of.

I eat it (wassabi) in TINY portions… I mean, like 1/2 of what a normal person uses. My sister loves it though… it’s crazy.

I am afraid of sushi as well, but in a reason I can’t understand, I’m not scared of food poisining, I just feel I would be alienated by eating it or something, I eat at this place called “Tokyo express” sometimes in WEM it serves awesome Teryaki chicken, it also serves sushi, I think I’ll have try it in the near future.

<img src=“http://cala.nulani.net/images/calacat.gif”>Eh, sushi. Not a huge fan of it, but I’ve had it and not been sick. A few of my friends have gotten sick because of it, though.

Another reason I don’t eat it is because of the taste, I can’t stand it.

Maybe your brother ate a poisonoenous fish like tofu (a kinda of puffer). Not all sushi is made of poisoneous fish. But since it’s raw, it’s easy to get an infection from it if the cook is not careful.

It might depend on the kind of sushi they ate. I eat sushi every chance I get, and I don’t get sick.

And remember what the Simpons and Hitman 2 taught us:

Fugu=Death

I got food poisoning my junior year of college…

From eating brocolli that was stir fried with chicken… didn’t get it as bad as the people who actually ate the chicken, though…

No good…

Food poisoning sucks-- At first you think you are dying… and then you wish you would.

I just haven’t eaten any.

I can see where you get the paranoia from, but paranoia is when you THINK it’s out to get you. KNOWING it’s out for you is another term.

Just picture it this way. If it doesn’t kill you, then eat it. And I’ve eaten a lot of strange things.

1: Peanut Butter Hotdogs

2: Ice cream and whip cream

3: Your mom

Just to name a few.

I like sushi alot. No where near me sells it though. ;_;

I’ve had sushi before, and I wasn’t sick. I know a lot of people who eat sushi (some of whom eat that more than other types of animal flesh), but none of them have been sick.

Isn’t the issue more with preparation and sanitation conditions? Maybe the reason why none of the people I know have been sick is because they’re definitely on the picky side about where they get their sushi.

I don’t get sick from sushi, but I really don’t like the taste of it…

Then again, I’ve always been biased against seafood in general for that same reason.
