Since the GC version got 9.6 on Gamespot, and the PS2 version got like 9.3 on the same site; I was wondering such differences in game. Doesn’t the PS2 version have extra stuff? What is the game like? No zombies?
I am really excited about this game. My parents are giving me 60$ to buy it on Friday, but I’m so wanting of it, that I’m going to sell some DVD’s, and some games to buy to tomorrow, and spend the $60 on a big dinner on Saturday (in way for my 6-month anniversary with my girlfriend).
First, I need to know if it’s worth it. At Blockbuster it’s 59.99$ w/ tax, at Wal-Mart it’s 58.99$ w/ tax, but at Gamerama it’s 48.99$ w/ tax.
I’m going to sell the following.
24: Season One (for about $15)
24: Season Two (for about $15)
24: Season Three (for about $20)
Star Ocean 3: 'til the End of Time (for about $15)
But if my prices are off, I’m also selling:
Carrie: Special Edition DVD (for like $5)
Castlevania; LoI (for like $10)
PS2 gets some extra weapons, and a side quest to see what Ada was doing during leon’s mission. GC version looks better, but the PS2 version looks gorgeous as well.
It’s a great game. Story is interesting, though the ending was meh. But the game is so much fun.
And it’s the first game I’ve seen that does escorting missions the right way.
The PS2 version has an extra weapon, extra alternate outfits, and coolest of all…Ada’s story detailing her involvement (which clear’s up some parts of the story). The graphics are slightly worse than the GC version, but nothing significant. The biggest thing I noticed was that Leon’s hair didn’t have the same sort of life it had in the GC version. There aren’t zombies per se, but the people you shoot at act like zombies. The story isn’t quite as interesting as the other RE games, but the gameplay is awesome.
On a side note, it seems like Leon gets all the good RE games. Re2 was pretty much considered to be the best RE game until RE4 replaced it. Leon is the man in RE.
A lot of reviews say it is like 20 hours long, but I was able to finish it in about 10 my first play through and I wasn’t really rushing. Either way, it is still much longer than past REs.
Bear in mind the PS2 version has Seperate Ways, Assignment Ada and Mercenaries, which’ll take you easily another seven or so hours to unlock everything in.
More and more I hear, the more I really want to play the game. I can only play it in the evening when all else is asleep.
Is the game hard to aim with? It’s like a first-person, but with behind-the-back camera, right? Can I adjust analog movement sensitivity, so I don’t have that big a problem with aiming (moving aim too fast/too slow)?
The GC version also had Assignment Ada and Mercenaries Pierson.
I haven’t had any problems with aiming. The biggest problem I’ve had with aiming is I sometimes forget that it doesn’t have an auto aim like in the other REs.
You have to beat the game to open up all the extra games, like Seperate Ways. Believe me though, you wouldn’t really want to play Seperate Ways without finishing the game first.
RE4 is phenomenal. The GCN version does look better, but the PS2 version supports progressive scan (which, ironically, makes it look almost as good as the GCN version… -_-), but it does support one thing I wish the GCN version supported; true widescreen. Other than that, it feels the same.
I played some of it; and was annoyed by the aiming. I got to the part with the first time you use the binoculars to view the town. I turned it off 'cause I was tired.
I like the game, and the widescreen; and the cinematic that plays if you idle on the title screen was really awesome. However, it’s a little difficult to aim, and this game is more difficult than the other Resident Evil’s…
When I first saved; it said I was on normal mode. I didn’t choose a mode when I began, and I was wondering if there are any other modes. Easy? Hard?
I haven’t really had any problem with the difficulty. I’ve actually thought it was the easiest RE. I’m not positive, but it could be like Devil May Cry where if you die a bunch in the first couple of levels it oepns up an easy mode.
This game is fucking annoying. GFaqs suxxors. I can’t find a guide clear enough.
I’m in the village, with the shitload of peoples and the chainsaw dude. He keeps fucking sawing my head off. >:( I don’t know where to go, or what to do. GFaqs said to get a spinel, then kill everything. How can I kill everything with like 100 handgun shots and 10 shotgun shells?
