Resident Evil 4.

The spinel is just something to sell to buy items or power-up your weapons. In this game, the knife is your friend early on. It is much more powerful and useful than the past games. Go through the town and pick-up all the items, which’ll help your ammo last a bit longer. Try to take the chainsaw guys out as fast as possible for the reasons you’ve already experienced. What’ll happen eventually is that you’ll start to get surrounded and be fighting a lot of them off when a church bell will ring and they’ll all leave. Also, the damage is location sensitive. That means that shooting them in the head will be much more effective than shooting them in the chest, which is more effective than an arm or leg, so try to aim for the head and save some ammo that way. The shotgun is great for taking of heads and is best if you can get them sort of grouped together. Also, the enemies sometimes drop ammo, which helps too.

How long does it take about? I mean, I die in like 2 minutes after I get the spinel. Fucker chainsaw fuck.

Would just running around work? Do I have to pick up the spinel for the ‘clock to start’?

The spinel is nothing. Just run around the town taking the guys out. If you miss it now, you’ll have plenty of time to get it later. The spinel just gets you money and is not required to progress.

I was editting my post when you responded. :stuck_out_tongue:

Do I have to kill enemies; or can I just run and wait around?

You need to kill the guys. It is advisable too since they’ll give you money, ammo, and health at times.

If I run out of ammunition?

Knife then. I never had that problem. There were very few times in the game that I got low on ammo and the beginning wasn’t one of them. One thing you need to remember and keep in mind is that RE4 is MUCH more action oriented than the other games. To save some ammo, try shooting a guy so that he falls down and then knife him to death. How are you so low? Did you not open the boxes along the path? Or did you open them with you gun and not your knife?

iused knife

only got like 100 handgun ammo and thats like it

The village scene at the very beginning of the game is harder on PS2 than it is on GCN, because they threw an additional Chainsaw Maniac in the loop. Avoid the shotgun until AFTER the scene is over. You only need to kill 14 villagers for the scene to advance. I say to make a loop around the village, but avoid the northwest exit, as that’s where one of the Chainsaw guys are. The other one spawns when you grab the shotgun in the two-story house in the village.

As for a guide, I ended up buying the strategy guide (both for GCN and PS2, for completion value), and it’s very well written, has well made maps, and gives you just enough information without going overboard. Though, after seeing the DQ8 guide (which is 100% spoiler free, and acts as an “atlas” more than it does a “walkthough”), it seems kinda hand-holding.

I think I can pull off 14 before death.

I’m now on Chapter 5-1 (just began), and spent 11 hours playing. I just restarted the game today. So I spent like 11 hours (and I’m still playing tonight) today playing. That’s almost all of today.

I must say, this game is incredible. Especially with the first handgun with the exclusive feature on it. It’s so fucking cool.

I remember hearing that Ashley is raped during the course of the game, and I was wondering how the fuck that fits in with anything.

I don’t remember that part. The closest that I can think of to where that rumor would get started is when the parasite is taken out since the machien straps her in and she moves.

It came from Gamefaqs. Validity terminated.

Remember the scene where Ashley gets tossed on the ground and some Las Plagas dude was eagerly trying to shut off a security camera? People were speculating that she got raped afterwards.

I beat the game this morning, and the final boss will be a memorable boss fight.

I must say the parts where you have to press buttons during cutscenes were truly a great idea. The scene with the lasers was awesome, and the fight with Krauser.

I used cheap ways to kill bosses. :stuck_out_tongue: I used the rocket launcher on Krauser, the rocket launcher on Salazar, the rocket launcher on that thing that attacks you in the sewers, the rocket launcher on about any big boss.

Seperate Ways is also ingenius. I’m on the last chapter, but it’s like finding new stuff about the game. I’m going to maybe attempt proffessional mode; or just get the bonuses.

I speculate how RE5 is going to be. Rumors say that it’s in a spanish city or something. And the main character looks that of that guy in RE0. With Umbrella gone, and Las Plagas gone, how will they continue the series?

Because Ada stole the sample. Wesker is a scientist and contributed a lot to the development of the T-virus, so he’ll be behind a lot of the stuff later. I see RE4 more as a way for Capcom to continue the story easier.

Was the purple vial Las Plagas, or T/G-virus?

Waitaminute, what about Steve from RECVX? He was injected with T-veronica Virus and then turned into some creature, then back to human. Wesker took him for examing in the end of RECVX. Now that I think of it, with Steve, that purple vial, and the G-virus sample Ada got in RE2, they can spawn some more sequels.

Just a quick question: wasn’t RE0 taken place before the T-virus outbreak? If so, what caused all the zombies and related?

Ada took the Las Plagas sample or whatever it was called. There was not T-virus involved in RE4.

Yes, RE0 took place before all the REs, hence the Zero. It is explained to be the same sort of thing that you fought in RE1. It just explains the origins of the T-virus and how it was made and it inolved leeches and stuff.

I’ve never played RE0, my lack of a Gcube. Hoping it ports to PS2.

Luis said in RE4 that he saw some T-virus in the lab he worked at. Near the beginning of the game, when they’re tied up (Leon and Luis).

RE0 wasn’t that great. I kinda hope it gets retconned. As for RE5, I’m just gonna ignore this current batch of pictures, and hope that they change it enough that it ends up featuring Chris Redfield.
