PSP is it good or bad!!!

I’ll be nice :stuck_out_tongue:

The PSP plays UMDs (Universal Media Discs). These hold about 1.8 gigs.

So it’s like a sucky DVD player, not a regular one.

<_<<!–I kid, I kid.–>

And one that only plays sony’s propiretary format. Thats not a racket at all!!! :D:DDD

Oh, and one other good thing about the PSP i forgot to mention: If you take it out ANYWHERE public, people will be like “yo, is that the new psp joint?” or something to that affect. So if you’re desparate for attention, this is the system for you :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, its funny. Whip that baby out and people gather 'round like it was Nanny Pamela’s story time.

True that. While our gamestore offers 90 day warranty automatically for GAMES, they don’t for systems and I don’t know what our stance on new systems is anyway. And warranty is VERY VERY nice. You WANT the game store warranty, even if it costs more.

I hate to tell you this (hell, I hate to admit to this…), but people do the same thing when I whip out my N-Gage to make a call. People flock around a DS when they see one, too. They used to do so when I’d imported a black GBA SP before it came out in America. It happens with any uncommon electronics. Heck, I got a rise out of a group with a Tiger game.com once. :stuck_out_tongue:

:hahaha; The PSP is more powerful than the DS. They are each coming out with wireless game packs but not at the same time. The PSP has better graphics but it has a higher chance of freezing on you due to how fast some games my run and their graphics. Lemme think… I am not sure if the PSP is wireless but the DS is up to 30 feet away. And the DS has a touch screen and up to 16 people can play one game. If you remember any of the N64 games then they might have 'em. They are making a new final fantasy crystal chronicles game because the one for the Game Cube was such a blow over. They are having games like super mario n64. And others like Paper Mario.

The PSP is may have the Final Fantasy versions in 3D but i’m not sure. It is rechargeable and its batterys run down faster but more games. They are coming up with games that won’t freeze as easily but the DS was rated the best hand held game system. It was closer than a 5% tie between the DS and the PSP but in the end the DS was rated better. If you need to know anything else about these sytems PM/e-mail me or im me (aim only) and I might help but I only know so much about these systems.

Its wireless.

Yea…the PSP is wireless, the DS isn’t. The DS is just adhoc, it doesn’t have a TCPIP stack, so it can’t go online (which is what i assume you mean by wireless), unless some workaround is made.

And what the fuck? The PSP doesn’t have a higher chance of freezing because it has better graphics. Thats like saying a oven has a higher chance of catching on fire than a microwave because an oven gets hotter. That statement is completely unsubstantiated.

EGM had a good stat comparison chart for DS and PSP this month. I’ll type it up when I get home and post it here (by editing this very post). Again, I’m not really impressed with either system that much yet. They still need to prove themselves to me, and Twisted Metal and Rayman aren’t enough to do that, by far.

[edit] As promised:

Under battery life, they said to see a seperate infographic on Page 104. As you (probably) don’t have page 104, I’ll quote: “All of the following times were logged using a PSP at medium screen brightness and 2/3 maximum volume, no headphones. Sadly, no UMD movies were available for testing (Sony claims 2.5 hours for them).” They then show some tests, as follows: “Playing Metal Gear Ac!d: 5 hours 45 minutes. Playing video off Memory Stick: 5 hours 37 minutes. Playing Ridge Racer multiplayer using wireless: 3 hours 11 minutes. Average time required for a full recharge (0 to 100 percent): 2 hours 10 minutes.”

Now, if anyone wants to complain about that table, then bite me. It takes long enough to type a table that big much less without all the spacing so it’ll work on the forums… >_<

How I miss the days when a videogaming console focused on the games…

I’ll get a PSP only if a new Wild Arms comes out for it. Ah, who am I kidding? Even if they ported a WA game, I’d buy it.

Yeah, so in response to what I myself posted up there (I was really tired when I posted it, so I forgot to actually make a statement), the PSP is, hardware wise, better than the DS in almost every conceivable way (aside from gimmicks and battery life). But then, let’s think about it other consoles who’s hardware was better than their opponents:

The ColecoVision and Intellivision were both better than the Atari 2600.
The TurboGrafx-16 was better than the NES.
The Game Gear and TurboExpress was better than the Game Boy.
The CDI, Jaguar, and 3DO were all better than SNES and Genesis.
The Saturn was (according to a spec sheet, mind you) better than the Playstation.
The N64 was (other than the cartridges) better than the Playstation.
The Dreamcast was better than the Playstation.
The Xbox was better than the Playstation 2.

So, kids, it’s best not to look at spec sheets when comparing two (or more) systems. As previously said, the hardware doesn’t matter, it’s the games that cut it. Both the PSP and the DS have some fine games on the way, so we’ll just have to wait and see who gets more first, and gets the audiences’ attention.

Before I get either one of these damned things, I’m waiting for a price drop.

You guys arguing about warranties, damnit. Just buy a god damned one from Wal-Mart. I can’t convince my bosses that ONE DEAD PIXEL isn’t covered by Sony’s warranty, so why should we cover it? Plus, there is almost no time limit. I took back a freekin launch date Gamecube a few months ago because my manager said so (And the customer bitched enough). Our SiRAS rep did everything next to threatening to kill me for it.

Wow, must be a linient wal-mart. The Wal-Mart down here wouldn’t take back a factory sealed DVD that I brought to them with the receipt after 30 days.

Someone posted that 6 posts above you… -_-

Does the PSP have any good games coming that AREN’T ports (I’m not being indignant, I really don’t know)? I mean, I love Darkstalkers and Ys as much as the next guy, but I’d rather play them on a console. I’m curious about Metal Gear Acid, but I haven’t played any Metal Gear games since Snake’s Revenge, so I’m a bit behind on the whole Metal Gear universe.

At least the DS has a new Castlevania coming out. That’s enough reason to get a DS right there. And that “Super Princess Peach” game might be good (Or maybe I’m the only person on earth looking forward to it… except for maybe this guy). And despite how I normally feel about ports, I’m still excited about FF3. And the new Sonic game might be good too.

Goes to show that I actually read the threads, eh? whoops!
