KATE WINSLET IS MY GODDESS I HAVE AN ALTAR TO HER IN MY CLOSET AND I WATCH<br> HER SLEEP AT NIGHT :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

No but seriously, she better win. ESOTSM better win something.

ooo, hope Incredibles gets best animated film ^^

Me too, it was the BEST movie last year, in my opinion!

But I’ll bet they’ll give it to Shrek 2. More popular.

oops

zomj i should read posts before responding to them D:

I hope Don Cheadle wins, or Jamie Foxx. I’d go with either one, but Jamie Foxx has my vote I think.

Show’s on!

Eh, I never watch the oscars. Though I think Kill Bill deserves a nomination for Best Picture.

I have no cable television, so the whole thing will pass me by as if it never happened in the first place.
:boring:

You don’t need cable to watch the Oscars. It’s on Network TV… o_O

Also, congratulations to the winners:

Jamie Foxx (Ray) - Best Actor
Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby) - Best Supporting Actor
Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) - Best Actress
Cate Blanchett (The Aviator) - Best Supporting Actress
The Incredibles - Best Animated Film
Million Dollar Baby - Directing
Million Dollar Baby - Best Picture

Does anybody care about any of the other categories? =P

Yay for teh Incredibles!

The Oscars are pretty much a Popularity Contest among the people of Hollywood, since the “Academy of Motion Pictures” is made up of actors, directors, etc. So, the awards may not reflect true quality. Still, it’s the most popular awards show of all, and most of the time, it’s the classiest one, too.

I found last night’s show to be one of the best in recent years… lots of fun. Here are my opinions:

*At first I was worried about Chris Rock as a host, but he behaved well enough, and was actually funny. The part where he ‘substituted’ for Katherine Zeta Jones had me worried, but it was handled well.

*The Incredibles DID win for Best Animated Film! YEAH! I mean, Shrek 2 was the funnier film, but in general, Incredibles was the better movie. I’ll be explaining why in a few days when it comes out on DVD (March 5.) Expect a review.

*Brad Bird’s acceptance speech for Incredibles was the first time I see him live. I was looking forth to that; after creating both IRON GIANT and THE INCREDIBLES, he’s one of my heroes. He sounded nervous but charming.

*And speaking of Bird, he did the voice of Edna Mode in the movie- one of the funniest characters in it. And guess who showed up to deliver the Best Costume Award right afterwards? Yup, Edna Mode (via CGI SFX) with that James Bond guy (Pierce Brosnan.) That was GREAT, it was fun and it made sense (Edna being a costume designer in the movie, and the movie being full of 007 references!) My favorite event of the night! I wonder if it was taped, or if Bird went backstage and voiced it at the time?

*The musical performances were for the most, wonderful. I loved Accidentally in Love, which was nominated as best song, but didn’t win. Beyonce dazzled me with her performance. She proved she isn’t just a Hoochie Mama, she can be a classy diva when she wants, too. I was a bit let down by the Santana number, tho… I didn’t like that “song” even though it was in Spanish.

*Hillary Swank’s acceptance speech was so long they almost ran her out of stage twice! You know the pundits are going to make fun of that, over and over again. :hahaha;

*By the same token, Jamie Foxx’s (For RAY) was also long, but nobody tried to rush HIM out. Hey, it was a very anticipated moment. And it was great, full of emotion and humor. Godspeed, Jamie!

*Million Dollar Baby won as Best Movie. Over RAY? Beats me.

In general, it was a great show, hope you people got to enjoy it too.

And now, I’m eagerly looking forth to the MTV MOVIE AWARDS, in May. Hey, they don’t ALL have to be classy! :stuck_out_tongue:

I haven’t even heard of most of these movies. The perks of not watching TV in months.

I used to think Renee Zellwegger was pretty (I’m not sure how to spell her last name) when I had seen her in that movie with Tom Cruise where he screams “show me the money!!”. After seeing pics from Chicago and from the Oscars, I have to ask “WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!”.

Isn’t that the actress who gets fat every 3 years to do another Bridget Jones’ Diary movie?
