N5, PS3, and Xbox2 are in big trouble! New Company entering the console market!

… and it’s from a cable company.

Thoughts?

Uh… I wouldn’t quite say they’re in “trouble.” I dunno about anyone else here, but I’ve never heard of that company. And just because there’s gonna be another system doesn’t mean that it, or the games that are released on it, are gonna be any good…

Every generation of systems has a few ‘wannabe’ systems. From the jaguar to the 3do, and more recently the n-gage. I wouldn’t jump at each system thats announced, personally. Of all the systems I predicted to be a ‘wannabe flop’, the only one that wasn’t was the Xbox.

Eh, no. Not a threat. Maybe a minor player, but nothing upsetting the balance.

And the only reason M$ didn’t completely flop is because they’re pretty well-known and already made software.

When are the N5 and PS3 suppost to come out anyway?

PS3 is 2006 I believe.

Uh, no. Microsoft had at least a monopolizing standing in the PC gaming industry as well as connections with some major game developers. I’ve never even heard of this company before.

Uh, no. MS didn’t have a “monoplizing standing” in PC gaming. MS was just another developer. Granted, the games were for their system. Either way, that doesn’t change the fact that MS had experience making games like Cala said. MS has made plenty of award winning games which have competed with companies like Blizzard (Age of series vs Warcraft/Starcraft) for example. Either way, they mdade those games in their gaming studio. Then they managed to get developers for the XBOX. However, if you look at the XBOX’s lauch line-up, many of the games were first or second party games, yet they game MS the foothold they needed. MS probably did well because they generated enough hype about the system and managed to deliever on most of it. Connections yes, but monoploy over PC gamign , no. There are tons and tons of PC games that aren’t made by MS that I can’t even see how anyone could say MS has a monopoly on that. Especially since MS can’t control what is released for PCs like it can with the XBOX.

I’m going to have to go with “That was probably sarcasm”.

And now it’s time to watch it die.

I meant PC software, not PC gaming. Sorry for the mix up.

As far as “never heard of it” goes, I’ve never heard of the source before, either.

I guess so.

I wonder if the Phantom or whatever it’s called will rear it’s ugly head. This one will probably go the way of the 32X. Of course it makes one wonder if it can get basic or premium cable with said device…

The phantom cannot survive… if for no other reason then I am NOT going to buy a console that MUST be plugged into the cable line to play the games.

And we have a winner!

And the current release dates for the next gen consoles are:

PlayStation 3 = 2006
Xbox 2/ Xbox Next/ Xenon = Late 2005-2006
NES 5 = 2007 or beyond

The Phantom developers apparently hired a pretty large section to demonstrate their console at the next E3. Not that I believe it’s going to be successful, if it ever even hits the market at all.

I’d raise a betting pool on it, but the odds are too high.

Can’t people just link to the damned PA strip?

And it Ion’s first post. Probably it’s find a small cult following and then fade slowly into time.
