I want a laptop

Something cheap, but good. Advise me.

What will you be using it for? Games? College Research Papers? Music? The more specific the better. And what’s your price range?

What’re you going to be using it for? Just Wordprocessing? Games? Overly expensive discman?

Basic games, college work.

What type of games? FPS? RTS’s?

Makes me wish I could build labtops.

My advice is to just check out local computer shops. You might luck out and find something in one.

Likewise Orak. I play RTSes mostly. I don’t need anything fancy. I stick to blizzard games since I don’t buy pc games too often.

http://www.dell.com/us/en/k12/products/model_latit_latit_x200.htm That should do it. Cheapest I could find. Good enough for most blizzard games.

Try checking out Pricewatch.com They have a large listing of notebook computers for you to choose from.

cheap as in 900 and below.

Well, then I’d advise you stick with a desktop because it’s not easy to find a sub $900 notebook that is capable of doing much besides word processing or simple web surfing.

I don’t want a desktop. I abhor desktops x_X. I want to be able to carry my pc around.

Wow, that’s a nice one you found. Just try and get a relative or friend at Best Buy to buy it with an employee discount or something. That always takes a nice chunk off.

If notetaking > games, as far as your portable goes, why not pick up a Palm Pilot? You can get one relatively cheap, and some of them come with their own fold-out keyboard.

I have a laptop! And its a great one! and it cost $2100 (though now its $1600)

BWAHAHAHA

(sorry, i havent gotten to taunt anyone in a long time…)

Yeah, except if you lose the battery life on them, they lose all information. Not to mention they are VERY limited in space. I have one for notetaking, usually by Fourth Period, it’s full up.

Heh. Wanna buy my '95 Mac Powerbook? =P Kidding, I need it for my extra files.

Yeah, I’ve been bogarting my sisters laptop since my dsl went down and have kind of become attached to the little guy. If you’re big on RTSs Sin I would suggest one with some sort of exterior mouse attachment (They make those right?), because using the little built in mouse is a pain.

The little purple knob they stick between the J and K keys, or the touchpad? Because I like the touch pad.

huhuhuh…knob. I meant the touch pad, yeah it’s better than the knob but I can’t see myself playing Q2 or WC3 with it.
