I don't even know why I am bothering with Gundam Wing

Simply put, I think Gundam Wing has the worst characters I’ve ever seen. They don’t make sense. I don’t get them. Actually, the whole show doesn’t make sense. I am more than halfway through, and I fucking hate it.

(there are spoilers here, I didn’t bother highlighting them)

GOD THE CHARACTERS SUCK ASS.

Heero is the worst gundam protagonist I’ve seen so far (and the only other Gundam show I haven’t seen so far is Victory). He threatens to kill people all the time, yet he fails to do so. How many times did he threaten to kill Relena, the other Gundam pilots, and the scientists? A lot, yet none of them were actually killed.

Relena. What the fuck is up with her? She is attracted to Heero for no real reason. She found him on the beach and is all like I MUST KNOW WHO HE IS. Then, she wants to stop the fight between Heero and Zechs. Heero escapes, while her brother fights 50 Leos. “Thank god the battle is over.” Yet she doesn’t care that her brother is fighting 50 Leos by HIMSELF. And then, she talks all about peace and pacifism, and acts all high and mighty. I absolutely hate her.

Trowa. I don’t know what to hate or like about him. He spoke what, like 10-15 lines throughout the 30 eps I watched. His hair is cool though, and his Gundam isn’t too bad either.

Quatre. Oh man, here we go. This kid, is supposed to be Arabic? WTF? Anyways, he blabbers on and on and on about his love for space, colonies, and his desire for peace. When his father dies, he goes nuts and blows up a whole colony (which I was angry about too, more on that later). Then he shoots Trowa, possibly killing him (although we know he’s not dead.) He is more upset about the fact that he killed Trowa, then the fact that he shot down a colony. A WHOLE FUCKING COLONY. Yet I didn’t see him mourn about that one bit.

Wu Fei. I AM POWERFUL. WOMEN ARE NOT. I LOST ONE BATTLE. I AM WEAK. I AM STRONG AGAIN. (that’s pretty much all I saw in him)

I liked Duo, and Zechs. Zechs because he’s the most Char like person outside of UC. Duo wasn’t annoying. Deathsycthe looked cool.

The mech designs are quite nice, I like it. The actual battles though, are crap. ITS A GUNDAM!!!111. They are so fucking overpowered. I mean, Wing Zero shot down a fucking colony. What is this nonsense?

We see the main characters blowing up Leos left and right, with ease. Yet, when any of the main characters pilot a Leo, it can take fire from 20 leos and sattelites, and NOTHING will happen. It just doesn’t make sense.

Heero was standing in his Gundam, and blows it up. Yet, he survives. Again, WHAT THE FUCK IS NONSENSE?

They talk so much about peace, war, the role of a soldier, and it’s pointless.

I doubt the show will improve within the next 19 episodes, and I am probably not gonna watch the rest. This show is worse than Seed Destiny. I can’t believe it’s a Gundam show, because the other shows are most of the time enjoyable. Gundam Wing however, was just stupid, IMO.

edit; also I am of the opinion there is not a single good mech design in the entire show barring the Tallgeese and the Kitano redesigns in Endless Waltz. What a screw-up.

Wing was my first Gundam series, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for it. It’s worth the watch just for Treize and Zechs. I understand some of your criticism, though; the five pilots aren’t exactly deep characters, and the gundams are indeed overpowered.

However, it is still a much better series than either G Gundam or Gundam Seed Destiny. God damn, those two sucked.

G Gundam was a bad Gundam series.

It was an incredible Super Robot show.

My case is the same as RPT’s, and I think I mentioned Quatre being a hypocrite imbecile before (Just as a warning: He still keeps on preaching his love-and-peace crap even after burninating the colony).

Good lord, I could not stand Wu Fei. I swear Trowa’s freaky hair is the only reason I can tell him and Heero apart, but Nightblade just summed up absolutely every last bit of Wu’s character. Duo is the only good one.

Why don’t you at least get the last chapters? The mandatory apocalyptic battle for the future of ZAH WARUDO is always nice to see, and Wing Zero vs Epyon isn’t too shaby. And don’t worry about the plot, even if you watch it complete you are still going to get lost because everyone keeps on backstabbing and switching sides at least once every chapter.

God damn, what a mess.
Gundam Wing is the original gundam with any trace of good storytelling, mech design, and characterisation removed. Treize was at least interesting becaues of how much of a backstabbing cockwad he was on one level, yet his deep sense of honour on another. Then again, that may just be an inconsistancy of poor writing as much as it is intentional duality in the character. Duo had a rogueish charm to him, but little dimension. Zechs was a less-cool version of Char. All the others, I agree completely with Nightblade’s assessments, especially Wu-Fei, it’s so true, although I might add a thing about ‘WARRIORS MUST ALWAYS FIGHT!’ but that doesn’t come in until Endless Waltz.

I’m sure if I watched it NOW, Gundam Wing would have all of the flaws that you pointed out. However, considering that I watched it all back when I was a freshmen in Highschool, I loved it. I thought it was the bee’s knees and kicked the FUCK out of the other crap that was showing at the time… Dragon Ball Z… YuYu Hunko’shit… And whatever unforgivable crap that Cartoon Network could get their hands on.

But, Gundam Wing to me is like Final Fantasy 1… It was awesome back when I played it, and due to this I refuse to play (watch) it ever again so that in the very least it can retain that nostalgic feeling in my heart.

I loved gundam wing, it was the first anime i ever watched. Duo kicked ass, and his gundam the deathscythe, even kicked more ass. I wanted to see the movie Gundam Wing endless waltz, but i missed it…and i was really mad.

Am I the only one who liked Endless Waltz even less than Wing? It’s more of the same but with more “pulled out of the writer’s ass” plot points that make no sense at all (Treize suddenly had a daughter? Operation Meteor was planned in another way? Zechs is alive? No wait, how the FUCK is Zechs alive?) and even more boring characters because they don’t want to fight anymore. The new Wing Zero design is pretty cool, but that’s about it.

G was an amazing Super Robot show. People expect a typical gundam show, and that’s why they hate it.

I didnt like mobile suite…it was, well…dumb. The gundams sucked in that series.

What? There is no show called Mobile Suit. Most Gundam shows have that in the title. Be more specific.
