I think he’s talking about the original Gundam series. The name was just “Mobile Suit Gundam”.
Kinda off topic, but I’m finally able to watch Gundam SEED on my aunt’s comp and I’m around chapter 10. It’s looking really nice and Kira is not as horrible as I heard he was.

The first Gundam was awesome. It started the Real mecha anime genre. It had a good plot, and good characters. And it had Char owning in a red Gelgoog.
It’s so much better than Gundam Wing. Than again, most Gundam series are (except for Destiny)

EDIT: Hey, just a question. In the SEED opening (The first one, if there are more) there is one bit where you can see a galaxy in the background, Kira’s transparent face and a girl’s (Lacus’?) equally transparent body. Now this may sound odd but… is it just me or the girl’s boobs suddenly… uh… jump?

Its times like these that i’m glad I skiped gundam wing all together. I was to busy watching Tenchi Muyo and Sailor Moon to care about a bunch of back stabbing whiners running around goofy looking mechs that blow up every other episode.
To be fair, the original MSG did suck. The story was disjointed, the animation terrible and half the lines were flubbed. Then the series finished early and they cleaned it up, cut half the useless plotlines and made into the three MSG movies, which fucking rule and are classics. So you’re half right.
Yes, that is the one in which i was talking about. I thought it wasnt all that great, but thats me.
