Help...

OK…

Dont know if this is happening to everyone but almost every song I’ve downloaded using KaZaa is screwed(distorted and chopped and what not)…

My guess is its because of the anti-rip cds the music industry is using…

Well… any ideas/solutions to combat this craziness?:fungah:

KaZaA sux0rz. Use WinMX.

You would be correct. Most of what I download off of Kazaa is fucked up and takes me a while to find one that works right. Just keep looking.

It’s only with certain songs…ESPECIALLY new/popular songs… I don’t think it has anything to do with kazaa shutting down. Examples of those are just put out there to frustrate people…because this problem was around long before talk of Kazaa shutting down started to circulate.

Just keep trying different files. It shouldn’t hurt you too much if you’re on cable, but if you’re on dial up and you have to keep constantly downloading other versions well…it’s a time waster. Patience, padawon.

Psh.

Instead of using Kazaa, why not buy the CD ?

Thought of that ? Probably not, huh.

Is it so hard to shell maybe 15 - 20$ for a CD these days ?

That really depends on the CD. I ain’t paying 20 bucks for a CD with just one or two decent songs, or alternitively, just to HEAR one or two songs…s’why I use Kazaa.

Uh, that’s the problem right now. The main demographic doesn’t have jobs, and their parents don’t want to shell out $20 for a CD their kid will listen to for about a week and forget about.
Hell, I bought one CD with 9 songs on it for $21.32. The record industry has been going down the shitter for awhile now. I’ve recently been buying more and more CDs, even if I have the songs on my computer.

My tastes are eclectic so you can imagine how many songs I want (and have). 15 to 20 bucks is a huge dent in my pocket, for even just one CD. I suppose I need a job, but even then…more important things to have I guess.

I have 2 jobs and I still have a hard time handing over $20 for a shiny piece of plastic.

I use GG, who uses KaZaa, to get me some songs, but this is sorta different for me. All the songs I got, I own on CDs already, and I can’t just save the songs on my computer. This is just an easier thing for me.

http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
Rips songs off of CDs and makes them into wavs, mp3s, and (I think) oggs.

Let’s blame the music industry. I seem to recall reading that one of the things they’ve been doing is uploading garbled and distorted songs.

Well, since the average CD with music I listen to on it is about 90 euros… yeah, that’s kinda hard :stuck_out_tongue: Maybe when I have an actual income.

Let me get this out of my sytem:

If you don’t have the money to BUY your music, DON’T get it. It’s as simple as that. Have consciences people. You are effectively stealing. Why don’t you just go to a clothing store and try to walk out with paying, why don’t you. I don’t want to hear the stupid “Oh, I don’t have the money for a CD that has only two good songs on it in my opinion” excuse. You don’t want to pay for it, don’t get it. Life’s not fair. Live with it.
Another popular excuse is “We don’t care about ripping off artists, they got too much money anyway.” I got news for you, you aren’t just hurting the artists, you are hurting every single person involved in making the CD. God, if I had the power to put all your asses in jail for theft I would.

Just in case you people don’t know, there’s a wonderful invention called the radio. It generate music very inexpensively.

Although the music on it is limited to your current location, which can be pretty annoying if you can’t stand pop music. It also doesn’t allow you to listen to certain songs when you want. And fine, suppose I spontaneously decide to buy all my music. I’d like you to find the actual CDs for sale, since most of them went out of print over a decade ago, or were only sold in a very limited edition.

And getting this out of your system? That’s bullshit, you’ve posted the same thing at least 6 times before. Just go scream at a wall or something if you want to vent anger.

Touche. But you cant compare stealing clothes with stealing music, because they’re two different scenarios. Downloading music and the like involves the heavy usage of technology whereas stealing clothes does not. yes yes, I know, despite the methods, they are both stealing, and well I can live with that.

Yes life isn’t fair, but we are finding ways around that. Because music is such an important aspect to people lives (for the most part) we have GOT to have it. I mean, I don’t know where I’d be without all of the music I did “steal”. Most of the songs I do have, I had no idea existed, from listening to the radio and TV. There’s a good point for us thieves- a lot of music out there is UNOBTAINABLE through simple methods such as going to a store and walking out with a bought CD. I can’t speak for everyone who listens to the type of music I do (75% of it is probably not mainstream), but I can say most of my music cannot be found in Walmart or HMV or whereever. Where can I turn to? The internet.

You can’t get eurodance and techno and trance and ambience (about 50% of the music I listen to) on radio where I live. I didn’t even know what trance was until I started downloading music. But that’s just my situation.

Besides, many “Artists” out there claim things are all about the music. Though when it comes down to crunch time (regardless of whether they’re rich or not) they’ll just bitch about the money. Really, isn’t it rewarding, in itself to charm audiences and to know that your music is the most sought out online? I do know a lot of bands and “artists” out there dont play for entertainment value but for the moolah and well i have nothing to say to that. With the age of technology and computers dominating, what do you expect? Everyone’s gotta make a living, and everyone who gets into the music indsutry should know what to expect.

/Rant over. And no, this wasn’t hate inspirted, Xero, your theft arguement was one of the most intelligent arguements I’ve read on the net. Usually people who are biased against it present their case differently, in a negative way.

EDIT: yeah TD said in his first statement what I was explaining in my first statement. I really do need to stop rambling.

It doesn’t fully fly, though. Stealing material stuff and stealing copies of immaterial stuff are two different things, since the latter only robs people of potential profits, whereas the former robs them of production costs and all that as well, causing them to definitely lose money instead of possibly. And there’s also the whole “I’d never have bought this CD if I didn’t hear the songs on mp3 first” thing that a lot of people do. Personally, I’d KILL for actual copies of some of my MP3s.
