You know what makes me mad? Whenever someone postes a story about a crime or tragedy or whatever, and every is all “Oh, humanity is doomed, etc.” What about all of the good things? Miracles, that kind of thing? Humanity is far from doomed, so why act like every single thing is going to destroy the universe?
uh…sorry to say but where do people say that humanity is doomed? im confused.
Because most miracles that happen are often viewed as personal miracles that do not affect the whole humanity… as in, the birth of new children into a family is considered a “miracle on its own”, but the death of a dozen in the hands of some degenerate psycho is a humanitarian tragedy that certainly shows how messed up people are and so forth…
Of course, a major miracle would be… say, cure for cancer, AIDS… end of pocerty everywhere… basically, things that seem kinda impossible at the moment. but people do strive for such miracles as well as they can, eh?
We don’t act as these things would destroy the universe. It’s worse. If the whole existence were destroyed, we wouldn’t have to stand against all these things as they come again and again.
And people suck. That’s why we hate them.

The “humanity is doomed, so let’s post a news story about it” has become a bandwagon around here and some people seem all too eager to prove how much we suck. I find them interesting none the less but it just proves how obsessed we are with the pain in the world, and are willing to overlook the happiness.

Dude, where have you been all your life? Humanity is (surprisingly!) the cause of our problems, and excluding present message board there are many many sick fucks and assholes in the world. This is why I believe we should nuke ourselves into Oblivion as we as a species do not deserve existence.

Seriously, even if small miracles afect only a few people, so do many murders, etc. And what about habitat for humanity, Green peace, that kind of thing, making a positive difference?
It’s the numbers. You hear about one person massmurdering 2 dozen way more often than a woman giving birth to 24 babies at once.

Anyway, I’m annoyed by it too. People say humanity is doomed because the news only focuses on the annoyingly bad stuff that happens everyday. They don’t focus on the good things because they don’t get as much attention as the bad.
Because we are, it is as simple as that. There is no denying it, humanity is doomed.
A fate it shares with all living and dead things.
It is my way of saying it is society’s fault, because, ultimately, society is a product of humanity.
And of course we focus on the bad things, it’s the bad things that stick - Mostly because we don’t want them to stick.
I’m one of those people who actually has a lot of faith in humanity. We only hear about the bad more than the good becaus bad news makes better news than good news. But I try to see the good in people, and really don’t have any doubt in my mind that it will all coem out alright in the end.

Heh, when I saw this thread that’s what I thought you were going to be posting about. And to answer your question, it’s because a large number of visitors here are angsty teenagers and the whole “Humanity is doomed” or “Mankind makes me sick” is one of their more common mantras nowadays.

Many people are pessimistic, either by nature or because of painful episodes in their life. Those people are on the verge of losing whatever faith they still have, and they should have a chance to see something that will change their way of seeing the world.
Everyone on the planet is an idiot. We just experience it at different times, at different levels. Unfortunately, most of humanity refuses to admit their stupidity, so they think humanity is doomed, when in reality dumb luck is what got us to where we are today.
I have lost faith in humanity, but not because its all bad. Yes there are those who do good, and sometimes good things happen. But come on. The number of good humans is far outweighed by the number of bad.
