Halo 2...i can't believe no one has this up yet

wow, no one has this up yet…i’m amazed. mostly this is for discussion on whether or not halo or halo 2 is better. i think that halo 2 is but i know people who disagree. please stick your opinions here…and no holy war like with the classic rock.

Personally, I don’t like either of them.

Halo is not as great as people say. I myself prefer Half Life 2.

I’m an id kinda guy. I’ll take Doom 3, please.

well i think halo rocks, if u have a desire to kill, and kill more, and more until u are literally killing squierlls to see their blood. ahahahahahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. whooops, sorry abou that, i think halo and halo 2 rock. but i somtimes get bored of it, but then i go back to it, like an addiction.(i wont get started ont that one)

I thought Halo 1 was good, not revolutionary but very well refined. Halo 2 was a complete and utter letdown, I didn’t have fun at any particular point in the game, save for the first couple of hours of multiplay, which got old after. Might load it up with that new update they’ve hyped up, though.

I played Halo back when it was called Goldeneye.

I actually lol’d. That was good :stuck_out_tongue:

They’re fun games, but i really don’t see what is so revolutionary about them. =\

I like 'em both, but i like Halo 2 better than Halo for the most part. I didn’t like the battle rifle, and the fact that they nerfed the sniper pistol. Gettering rid of the life bar didn’t please me much either. But the Brute Shot was the most aesome gun ever for me, it’s got quick melee and the shot bounces… WOOT!. The energy sword was neat, and i think the whole hijacking and detructable vehicles kills some tactics i didn’t like in Halo, like say, riding in tanks and rilling everyone with fear of retaliation… pretty much. I’ve played Doom 3 and didn’t like it as, much, too much wandering in the dark. OI haven’t played Half-life 2 though, so i can’t judge that. But nothing beats, Unreal Tournament for me, i just love their guns!

…I remember when I asked this dude what made Halo so different from other first-person shooters.

Dude: “It’s so much better man! In Halo, the weapons actually effect your enemies differently! Like, a pistol won’t do the smae amount of damage on one enemy as it does on another!”

I almost didn’t want to play it after that.

Ah, back in my college dorm days…

He is way off. The weapons were BALANCED, at least moreso than other FPS. A person with the pistol still has a chance of taking down the guy with the assault rifle.

Of course, I don’t call it revolutionary since they aren’t perfectly balanced, the Sniper rifle and rocket launchers spring to mind. And the energy sword didn’t help much.

I liked Halo 2 for the most part. I agree that the first one was, for the most part, better, but the ability to hijack vehicles, the new weapons, and the slightly better multiplayer were also good. If the single player was longer, however, it would have been a much better game.

Doom 3…well, I got bored quickly. The problem was, Doom 3 just kept trying to be Doom, and while Doom itself is still a classic, the market has evolved considerably since then. And when the game tried to include a plot, it became cringe-inducing rather than involving. The graphics were the only part of Doom 3 I really enjoyed.

I haven’t played Half-Life 2 yet, mostly because my internet is jumpy as hell, and I probably couldn’t stay logged in long enough to play it heavily. That, and I’m waiting for the price to come down (I’d get the XBox version, but I don’t have Live, and knowing Valve, it’ll require THAT for registration).

As for Halo’s revolutionary stuff: It was mostly graphics. When the first Halo was released, the graphics were far and beyond nearly every other game out there, and they have aged somewhat well (although, of course, Doom 3 and probably Half-Life 2 outshine them now). As for gameplay, it was mostly the same as other FPSes (although it actually had a pretty good plot, something that only one other game that shall remain nameless in the genre has done).

Actually, from what I hear, you only need to log on once, to ‘validate’ your install, which is relatively quick. After that, you just need steam loaded, even if it is in offline mode, and you can play. And while multiplay is a part of the game, it also has a great single-play, so I say go for it.

I like Halo a lot, but Halop 2 just doesn’t do it for me. In Halo 2, the multiplayer is great, but the rest of the game doesn’t do it for me. It starts off great and most of the parts with the Master Chief are great, but the Arbiter parts suck. Halo is fucking awesome though. The Library sort of sucks, but it is one weak area.

I honestly can’t see how people can think that dual-wielding death is boredom…honestly. the rack of guns to choose from is great…maybe i’m just the wierd one, but i thought that halo2 was better than the first in story, arsenal, and all around…o well. half life 2 and doom3 are pretty sweet though

Halo 1 was a really fucking fun game.

Halo 2 is more balanced, but I just don’t think it’s as fun. The end. That’s all, really. They’re pretty fun games.

Well said. Pretty much covers it all.

I’ve got a friend that plays Halo 2 on a fucking pro-like level, so now that I’ve talked to someone that says something other than “omfg its so awesome nintendo is for 6 year olds” about the game, I think it is actually pretty interesting. (The most amazing part is that he’s also playing JV Baseball… He surprised me o.o;) He plays with The Ogres a ton, and I guess they are the best Halo 2 clan out there. His alias is Prodigy, so yeah, if you ever enter a custom game with him, just know you’re going to get owned. :stuck_out_tongue:

I enjoyed Halo One much more. Neither story was really that good, but I liked Halo One’s better.
