Gamecube fans, take heed

http://www.operationmgs.com/news/twinsnakes1.html

I know it’s kinda old, but w00t all the same.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That better end up multi-platforming…

I think someone already posted this, but good news deserves a second hearing, or something :stuck_out_tongue:

One more reason for Frame to gloat 'cause he’s probably going to E3…

I don’t think any game co-produced by Miyamoto (the other producer being Kojima) and developed by Nintendo-owned Silicon Knights will ever end up on any other platform. Just admit it; the hardcore gamer platform this generation is the 'cube.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> It’s times like this that make me proud to own a GC. Now if you’ll excuse me…

I second that motion =P

Best of all, I have an MGS loon friend who’ll pray ages for me to get that game, which I won’t! HA!

Points and laughs are steve? That’s kind of mean, hell, I sold my gamecube, and bought an XBOX, I still think it’s one of the best buys I’ve ever done.

I wonder if it will multi-platform, konami probably will end up putting it on the PS2 or something too.

Laughs along with all those laughing at Steve

Old news to me seeing as I was the one that started the original twin snakes thread first time round  but anyway, as a loyal Gamecube owner, let me recommend to anyone who wants this game, GET A GCN. This is the Metal Gear game of the future…

Hell, I didn’t get substance in the end but I’m sure as hell gonna get this

Excellent news indeed

You’re slow X. Seems like you’re in need of an upgrade. nod, nod

I wish I knew what this game is all about. I’ve heard about Metal Gear Solid, of course, but I’m yet to have a clue to what it is - what type of game, and so on.

I saw no such thread.

Besides, Neb and Tactical Espionage don’t go together too well |-P

The Metal Gear series spans a multitude of consoles, from the Nintendo Entertainment System to the Gameboy, to the new next-generation consoles. While I can’t really give you the exact details of the pre-PS1 games, I can however give you the entire gist of the series in one word: Confusing. Hideo Kojima, the director and main writer, has created a web of interweaving plot lines and character paths. I’ll do my best to explain the plot. So…here goes.

Lets start at Metal Gear Solid. Metal Gear Solid follows the espionage and infiltration of the “Shadow Moses” complex. Solid Snake, a highly trained, highly knowledgable super spy, is infiltrating this complex under the orders of the top brass of the American government. A former member of the elite FOXHOUND squad, Solid Snake was specifically called into the mission due to his past with the FOXHOUND organization: A group of specially trained individuals who posesses extrodinary skills, of which are utilized in undercover espionage missions around the world led by none other than Liquid Snake, Solid Snakes genetic brother. It was deemed that the group had become too dangerious and was disbanded. The remaining members of FOXHOUND have attacked and taken control of this Shadow Moses complex with the sole intention of stealing Metal Gear, a portable nuclear war machine. Metal Gear a bipedal much-type machine is armed with a plethora of weapons, including tactical nuclear weapons. Solid Snake traverses the complex to meet up with Liquid Snake, who has taken root in Metal Gear, and through a series of events, is defeated by Solid Snake, who escapes the complex unscathed.

In an effort to not spoil the story, I won’t go much farther into the first game. Just keep in mind that the plot is somewhat complicated, quite interesting and ties in greatly with the plot of the second game, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

Solid Snake and Otacon, a refugee of the Shadow Moses disaster, have started an Anti-Metal Gear campaign against the government and other governments. During the time between games, the blue prints were sold on the black market, so that now every thug with money can, and has, built their own Metal Gear. As such, Otakon and Solid Snake have recieved word that the American Government has also built their own, however theirs is a much more advanced model, dubbed Metal Gear RAY. Metal Gear RAY serves much the same purpose, along with being aquatic and slightly air borne. The tanker that Metal Gear RAY is being held on is infiltrated by Snake, and is then hijacked by Russian terrorists who intend to steal Metal Gear RAY. Otakon and Snake’s objectives change to protecting RAY. Through another series of events, the tanker explodes, and Metal Gear RAY is stolen.

Fast Forward two years. Solid Snake is deceased, and theirs a new kid on the block; Raiden. Raiden posses much the same training as Snake. When the tanker exploded, it released an unprecedented amount of toxins into the Manhatten harbor. As such, a massive clean up facility was built on top of the crash site, which has once again been taken over by Russian terrorists, this time led by a psuedo-FOXHOUND called Dead Cell. Dead Cell is much the same as FOXHOUND, unique individuals who recieved special training. Anyway, not only have hostages been taken, but one of them is the President of the United States. Events unfold, and Raiden finds himself going up against unknown powers in our government, the la-li-lu-le-lo, otherwise known as The Patriots. The Patriots control everything that goes on worldwide, everything, including the Metal Gear projects. Raiden ultimatly finds himself fighting off terrorist contolled Metal Gear RAYs, and going against the very government that employs him.

The story of MGS2 is much more complicated and much more interesting than that of MGS. Once again, I left out pivitol information to keep it all a surprise, since you haven’t played the games. I highly, highly reccomend these games to anyone at all. The story rivals that of all RPG’s, and most novels.

The games play quite similarly to eachother. You have a third person view of the hero, and you can crouch, roll, duck, shoot, climb, and run around in an effort to avoid your enemy as much as possible. You aren’t rambo, you’re a lanky dude with a squirt gun, basically. You have to keep your distance, and engage in only neccessary fights. You aren’t exactly defenseless either, Snake is well trained in a number of martial arts.

To sum it all up, they kick ass, and you really should at least rent the games. In my opinion, no game library anywhere is complete without these two games.

It just keeps getting better and better for GCN owners.

It’s only a remake of the original MGS on PSX with better graphics for GC… same scenario with the remake of RE1. Besides, i’m more interested by the recent press release by kojima which was that MGS3 will be unveiled at E3 this year ^^
