So, for a late Christmas present, I got a GBA from a friend of mine (IonMage), who’d gotten a GBA SP for Christmas. So now I’m trying to decide what GBA game to get first … There’s a whole bunch of possibilities.
If you’re looking for additional possibilities, try the Golden Sun games (preferably the first one first, if you can get it). I think they both are a lot of fun.
Fire Emblem - If you’ve ever played one of the snes games, well, picture one of those with better graphics, a complete translation and a simpler interface. Not really hard, but the battles are difficult anyway, since there are no random units (only heroes), and once they die, that’s it. Bam. Dead.
Mario and Luigi - Superstar Saga - Haven’t played much of it yet, but DAMN it’s good and funny
Sword of Mana - Pretty different from the original, it now sports a class system (determined by how you assign your stats as you level up), a better translation, better graphics, idiotic AI, and no challenge at all. Still, pretty fun.
Harvest Moon - Friends of Mineral Town - If you like HM games, get this one. It’s like, awesome in cart form. Otherwise, don’t bother with it.
Hmm, My big reccomendations are Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, and Megaman Zero 2.
As for all those games…
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga - It’s pretty good from what I played. If you enjoyed Paper Mario, you’ll really like this one
Metroid Fusion - I never liked Metroid games, but my pal who does says it’s pretty good, go for it if you like Metroid.
GGX Advance Edition - I can’t really say much about this, but I personally dislike Guilty Gear X as a fighting game series, so I personally don’t reccomend it.
Zelda: Four Swords - It’s the same as the SNES game…so eh, don’t bother unless you’ve got friends and time, I imagine that would be the only thing that would make it worthwhile.
FFTA - A huge step down from the original one. I just can’t reccomend it. It’s really not a good game.
Sword of Mana - It’s alright I personally think it’s too slow for my tastes, but it sure is a really nice remake If you can though, just get the original FFA for Game Boy
Any Megaman game - I don’t know much about MMBN, but I personally didn’t like them. You should give it a whirl though, they’re pretty interesting games. I would definitely reccomend either Megaman Zero game. If you’re really interested in story, get Megaman Zero first. But, Megaman Zero 2 has far superior gameplay, and if you don’t care for the story then just get MMZ2.
Less likely: either Legacy of Goku - I’ve heard nothing but crappy things about this game. I’m really biased againg most things DBZ and anime related anyways so I don’t reccomend it. I just would also think about all the bad things other peopel have to say about it; look, even Crotanks doesn’t like it, and he’s the biggest DBZ fanboy I’ve ever seen

Thats when you know a DBZ game is really bad
I kinda like it, I just don’t think 3 hours of gameplay is worth playing. The second one makes the first look worse than what it already is, so go with that if you want.
I would HIGHLY reccomend Metroid Fusion or FFTA. Even one of the Pokemons would be a good choice. If you’re willing to look past all the hype and cheeseyness, you’ll find a damn great game with nigh-endless replay value.
FFTA - fun. just a nice, simple enough strategy rpg with nice characters and moogles. very nice.
pokemon Ruby/Sapphire - Don’t underestimate the pokemon games. these one’s have the least to do with the show or stuff. think about it. espiecially if there are others to slaughter in linked battle.
advane wars - 1 or 2, but maybe not both, as they’re suposed to be more of the same. A nice strategy game that you can even create your own maps with. again, funner with friend.
superstar saga - a better papr mario, with platform functions in battle, making all enemy attacks potentially evadable. Only small problem is only two similar party members.
Golden Sun 1&2 - get one first if you can. One is a little short, I beat it in about two days. Number twos a bit longer. good graphics. nice enough story. fun puzzles. great game.
Legend of Zelda four swords: its good, but I’m one of those people that need a giide on zelda games for the stuff to do in between dungeons (heart pieces) and bosses. so okay, and fun if there are other people who have the game for the four swords game.

As if the original was hard? I beat it using solely the Broad Sword, with a couple exceptions where it was useless. (Dark Lord and Golem)
And as for adding to this topic… I would recommend Golden Sun, as it’s my only GBA game… And Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, since I just beat in on emu… Both are great games…
