Ffviii Help!

Need help with the fight against Sorceress Adel. She beat me 3 times in less than 5 minutes blushes. My party is Squall (level 42), Zell (level 34) and Irvine (level 32).

Well technically your levels have nothing to do with it. Well I’m biased since Quistis and Squall were at level 100 when I fought her…

Just junction your magic and hp stats insanely high. And be careful who you hit, heal Rinoa like every 3 or 4 turns. Adel kicked my ass too, in my first game, but I had even lower levels than you and hadn’t junctioned anything.

GF’s work well. Well they did for me since I always used them.

Ya i was about the same level as you were Luiza and i still did it although it did help that i had squalls ultimate weopon thus having his ultimate limit break. Which is very very good by the way and you shouldnt use GFs they kill rinoa which causes a immediate failure in the fight so get good weapons and use physical attacks, at least that is how i did it. Good Luck:hahaha;

Yeah, dont hurt Rinoa, but cast REgen on her, and then just pound Adel with Flair, Meltdown, a limit breaks. Use some of the Pulse Ammo if you have to…

um, how do i get pulse ammo?

Pulse Ammo can be refined from Laser Cannons, Power Generators, and [I think] Ultima Stones. It’s great stuff if you can find it, but you won’t come by it easily. AP ammo, on the other hand, is almost as strong, a little faster, and MUCH easier to come by (refined from sharp spikes and chef’s knives).

Irvine and Zell are good choices, yeah. You’ll wanna hit Adel hard and fast with your strongest single-target attacks (not multi-target: so I’d say don’t summon GFs).

Junction your strength as high as you can for all party members [Meteor and Flare if you’ve got 'em, but Holy and Tornado are very nearly as good, to Str-J, and if you have Str+40 or 60 percent, activate those too), have them start off ready to limit break, and just beat on her.

Somebody should have the means to be a healer, so that you can use cure magic or hi-potions on Rinoa regularly to keep her from dying. You can use Regen on her too, and you should be able to Haste her too so that Regen will take place more often…

Listen to Kaiser. He knows what he’s talking about. I need to go through FF8 again… Last time i played it i was doped up on pain killers from having my lower wisdom teeth removed (i think they took the wisdom out with em). Strangely enough, i played the game nonstop (it got me through the itching) and havnt even looked twice at the case since. I do remember finding errors between the “official” strategy guide and the game though. Just a few minor details. Like in equip requirements and stuff 'n junk.

Kaiser pretty much covered it all. Focus on single-target attacks with your strongest characters, keep Haste up if you can, don’t summon GFs and keep Regen cast on Rinoa. Make sure to cure her frequently as well, because I found Regen didn’t quite keep up with the amount of HP Adel kept absorbing from her.

If I remember rightly, Adel is weak against wind . . . so Tornado is good, if you have that spell at this stage. Watch out that you don’t inadvertently kill Rinoa yourself when using Squall’s limit breaks - some of his randomly chosen finishing moves focus on all targets.

Tornado hits all enemies though, so use Aero instead. Don’t want to spin Rinoa around and make her throw up, right?

And if you’re quite good with Zell’s Limit Break, I recommend you use him. Just use his single enemy Duel techniques against Adel. I’d recommend Punch Rush and then Dolphin Blow. If you’re quick to press the buttons, you can get a LOT of hits in!

thanks for all the help, you all. : )

Hmmm . . . doesn’t sound like such a bad idea, really :mwahaha:

I’d also say cast triple for quick casting of aura (which I would highly reccomend), curaga, protect and shell.

I like Rinoa

[IMG]http://www.ffonline.com/1_ff4en/warrior.gif[IMG] If you wish you may want to cast Shell on Rinoa as well, that will cut the amount of health Adel drains from her, in half.

Kaiser was inaccurate on one thing, Ultima Stones are refined to something else (can’t think what right now). Energy Crystals are the third item that can be refined into Pulse Ammo.

Then just follow the advice given, and everything should go fine.

great idea

I never had a hard time against Adel. I almost always use Squall, Irvine, and Zell though. I sometimes find that Meltdown works great on her. Use the Aura magic you drew from Siefer (hopefully) and start using Limit Breaks like crazy. Regen and Haste also work great in this fight. The only GFs I found useful in this fight were Carbunkle and Cerberus. With Cerberus, have one guy use Aura 3 times, one guy use Haste 3 times, and one guy use Regen 3 times. (make sure this is before you use Carbunkle though)

I’ve never really found much use for a lot of magic in this game. Mostly for junctioning. Others, like Meltdown, Aura, Haste, Curaga, Ultima, and a few others are all I use.

(sorry if I’m a bit late, but I had to give my strategy)

I killed her… AT LAST.

THANK YOU ALL!

Good job. Im suprised you even started this thread, most people i talk to hate ff8. I mean all you had to do is play it and you would see that it is a good game. Enjoy the rest of the game the final boss is a bitch.

I agree. I only used any of my spells, except for the ones you’ve mentioned, and rarely did I use the offensive spells. They were only good for junctioning, and even if they aren’t, their damage is nothing compared to what GF’s can do.

I didn’t find her very difficult at all. Then again…I had all ultimate weapons and all lvl 100s, but even without all that, I can’t imagine her being very hard.
