FF VI - Levels

Congratulations Master Belch!
You just successfully transformed into a steaming pile of vomit!

Well, I finally found and killed an Intangir… AFTER IT WIPED MY PARTY THREE TIMES! Dammit, the thing’s an INVISIBLE Behemoth!! My self-imposed limits made it VERY hard to kill! You guys could’ve warned me!!

Anyway: I got several new Lores for Strago on the Veldt, and learned a few more at the Floating Continent. (BTW, I used Relm, Strago, Locke and Shadow.) I had a problem because Strago’s Poison Rod and Relm’s Sketch abilitywas CURING some of the monsters, so I had to switch weapons, but I made my way all the way to where you can jump back to the Airship, and I did, to take a break. Shadow left, however… do I get him back when I return?

BTW, how do I find the Gigantos? I know it’s in a chest somewhere, but all the switches confuse me.

The Gigantos is very early into the Floating Continent. Remember where the path first splits? Head right from there, and you’ll see a blue orb in the wall a little bit down from there. That’s what you’re looking for.

Word to the wise; come into battle with everyone invisible if possible (so Gigantos can’t hit you), and have Cyan use his LV4 Swordtech (Quadra Slam, I think is the name). Since it’s not actually a normal attack, you’ll stay invisible!

The Gigantos is in one of those little blue bubble sorta chests, yeah. You’ll find two of those teleporters that open up a hole below your feet… one of which leads to the top in the 3-way split. If you head just east of that teleporter, it’ll open up a small path, and stairway. Head down there and open the chest.

EDIT: Yes, Shadow rejoins as soon as you hop back. I assume I don’t have to tell you to wait for him later on when… you know…

Did we not also say the best way to kill him is to cast Doom? :stuck_out_tongue: Even with your limits, it’s kinda stupid to fight him without it.

But congrats on beating him without casting Doom. :stuck_out_tongue: I hope if you were using Relm, you didn’t try to sketch him. XD

I thought you people said it LOOKED like a Behemoth, not that it could SUMMON Meteors like one!! >_< Anyway, I was forced to use a spell to make it visible, then I kicked the crap out of it, so go me :stuck_out_tongue:

Compared to the Intangir, the Giganto was a cakewalk, killed it in THREE rounds! And no, I didn’t use Vanish-Doom or anything, mainly Golem, Sketch and Throw. Character levels: high 20’s.

Atma was more difficult, but still easier than the Intangir, got in one try!!

Too bad I ran out of time trying to find the way out… dammit, I need a MAP… -_-

On the way out? Basically just keep heading East! The path is right in front of you.

Ninten:cool:

Well, I must’ve taken a wrong turn SOMEWHERE, because the edge I reached wasn’t the one I was supposed to jump off from! I’m gonna try again today. And yeah, I gotta kill Atma Weapon all over again. > <

And this part of the game has some of the worst dialogue so far, specially considering how important it is for Celes and Shadow.

Is there some way to escape those joker-things that attack you? Dammit, this is one of the reasons I want to use the Pro Action Replay, to shut down those annoying timers. I play RPGs for strategy, not racing. Btw I just ordered the PS1 power cord I needed by mail… let’s hope it arrives soon, and that this PS1 works with the PAR!

Also, isn’t Atma one of the enemies that dies when it’s MP runs out, or its HP?
You could just use Rasp/Osmose (although I blame Osmose, right next to the Offering, for FF6’s lack of difficulty. It’s what lets you use stuff like Ultima without concern.)

Atma dies when it’s MP reaches zero, yes, but it takes ALOT longer to kill that way than the normal way.

I’m pretty sure you can’t escape the enemies that attack you on the way out, but they’re weak against fire, so hopefully you’ve got Fire 2 on at least two of your guys. I’d even say that’s probably why you’re having trouble beating the clock there – those critters take for-EVER to kill without everyone blasting away at them with fire.

Ok, Atma is toast (again) the second time was even easier. Unfortunately, Shadow didn’t appear at the end (I killed Nerapa with only 4 seconds lef!) so although I could’ve gone on, no way I was losing that sourpuss. I resetted AGAIN (good thing I SAVEd after beating Atma the second time!) and THIS time I made it to the end with time to spare (I used ice spells reflected on Celes, who was wearing a reflect ring, against Nerapa.) Huzza!!

Unfortunately, Cid died on me, I fed him the correct fish but apparently I took too long (I was reequipping Celes). Oh well, that allowed me to see the “suicide scene” that I missed the first time I played.

Now… onto the World of Ruin!!

Doesn’t Cid ALWAYS die?
He’s always done that to me…

Ninten:cool:

No, he doesn’t. That algorithm FAQ explains it, but its some sort of hidden scoring system where feeding Cid non-rotten fish increases your score while time passing decreases it. Get a high enough score (quickly, feed him “yummy fish” - check the Rare Items screen to see what kind you got), and the scene ends. Get a low enough score (feed him rotton fish, or just let time pass), and he dies.
I’ve seen it both ways. Only difference is the scene that follows. He tells Celes to continue on (with a raft) if you win. She jumps off the mountain, yet manages to live somehow, if you win. Then she finds the raft and a note from Cid.

Linkies?
