Have you been watching this show on Adult Swim? Some of us in the chat were talking about it the other day, and I was glad to find some fellow fans. I can’t tell exactly why, but I just love watching this show.
I think it’s the whole logic thing in solving the mysteries, and I like following what’s happening and trying to figure out the case before the end. I also like the older look in the drawings (I have no clue when this came out originally), and the little Conan and Rachel’s dad crack me up.
Ah that explains it, i go to bed cause of schhol before then so i never get to see it. But sience summer is practicly here maybe ill watch it a few times and see what I think.
I watch cartoon networks saturday nights show Wolfs Rain and new Inuyashas and never heard when they were going to air Case closed and never heard of Code:Lyoko either. I’m so sick of cartoon network airing their stupid commericals for aqua teen hunger force and the like of their ridiculous shows, instead of showing what new animes are going to be on. Yes I have watched aqua teen hunger force once and wasn’t impressed. Oh I forgot their the brak show and sealab 2020, also unfunny and annoying shows I watched an episode of each. I really wish I could say with certainity that no one watches and cares about their brand of shows, but a number of people love it. It even got an article in my newspapers weekly tv sheets. At least for some people the only reason to watch cartoon network is for anime, in which it could be their only way to see such. Sorry for my pissed off judgemental head up my ass opinionated rant.
I was able to catch Case closed on June 1st cause a friend reminded me. I had completely forgotten about it airing in June, of course that was the 6th episode that I had caught too. It’s a pet peeve of mine to need to see something from the beginning cause i hateYeah the show does have an old sort of drawing style to it, perhaps made in the 80s, maybe even the 70s. So far it’s decent, I was able to guess who was the murderer last night, even if that was an easy one. Guess I like trying to solve it before the end of the show too. I’m so glad that its a show you can basically catch in the middle of the series, as each episode is somewhat separate to the others as it deals with a new case. Yeah cute characters little boy Conan and sometimes naive Dad.
yea, Detective Conan (aka Cased Closed) is pretty good, but what is the conan’s hint for? i never got that ehh im bored :boring: jus started so i dont have all that fancy stuff lyk avatars or even a signature
Conan’s definately a one-of-a-kind anime. However, there are some cliche things about it.
1: Conan most always knows who did it right before the commerical break.
2: He’ll say stuff like “You’re wrong, inspector” “Of course! Why didn’t I see it before?” or something other at least once every other episode.
3: It’s kind of discerning when even the adults skip over the simplists of clues.
4: 95% of the time, it’s a murder case, followed by the murders unreveiled story of why he did it with the usual sad music in the back, followed by a “La de da we just saw someone die and someone get busted but hey! now we’re happy again lets go get ice cream yaaaay!”
5: Speaking of which, don’t you think that earlier on in the season, Rachel or Richard one would try and keep Conan’s “young eyes” away from such horrid murders? You know at the end of the series SOMEONE’S going to need therapy from all this shit.
6: EVERYONE’S pupils has the exact same dilation when they see something dead. It’s like they have a reserved signature look for dead things.
7: On an episode where a characters name is flashed on the screen in that black box, that character will then procede to spill his/her guts out who they are, why they’re here, (JUST like Scooby Doo) and hint at any possible motive for the muder (because there WILL be a murder.) If I was on that show, and my black box flashed I’d be like “Hi, my name i-…aahhhh SHIT! SHIT SHIT SHIT!!! I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! AAIIEIEEEE!!!” and then I would proceede to get the hell out of there before I’m caught up in anything.
8: If there’s any noticable derbis lying around, you know EXACTLY what the hell Conan’s going to end up doing. Why the fuck can’t he just charge up his shoes and kick somebody in the balls or the shin? That’d hurt MUCH more, and “detain” them further.
9: After Conan stuns Richard and after he’s done his part, WHAT does Conan do to just show back up again, like he was there or elsewhere?
10: By now, Rachel or someone should know that if Conan suddenly has to run somewhere, he knows what’s fuckin’.
11: Conan will always use his signature quote “I’m Conan Illrai…something…Detective” when he introduces himself to the killer. He should say something like “My nama’s Conan, and I just BUSTED your punk-knocka AISS! Now GIT ON MAH SCROT!!!”
12: Conan’s not in any hurry to get his old body back and find the men in black, is he? Little perv. LUCKY perv, though.
13: The Butler is always up to something. Murderer, allibi, info dealer, etc.
But still, it’s an extremely entertaining series, and I love it.
You forgot that most criminals thank Conan for figuring it out. Hey thanks kid for solving the case and sending me to jail don’t worry when I get out of jail I’ll buy you some ice cream and certainly not kill you! -_- arghh At least it isn’t like in Scooby doo where the criminal says “…and I would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those pesky meddling kids.”

I’ve only seen a few of the Conan movies and episodes subtitled since I don’t get Cartoon Network up here. But I really do like what I have seen. Now if only there weren’t already 300+ episodes I might be tempted to start collecting them. (Dragon Ball Z syndrone anyone?)
Though this is the first time I’ve heard the English-version names. Rachel? Richard? WTF?
I’m rather enjoying a break from the violent-types of anime with this as well… It’s like the best of two of my favorite types of shows… Law, and Anime… Yay!! :moogle:
Well, I think Detective Conan is a cool show.
Right now Cartoon Network is showing the old episodes.
I would really like to see the newer ones (300~400).
The plot gets more and more interesting (probably around the 100s episodes)
I also think that it is a good idea if they show it earlier instead of 1 and 4 o’ clock
because I can’t stay up that late.
Between 11 to 12 is good.
I have the same problem with staying up late for TV, since I’m technically supposed to get up early to go to work. To solve the problem, I actually read the programming portion of my VCR’s manual! I record TV shows every night.
I heard from my friends that the English Case Closed is really “bad.”
They said something about the way they interpret the lines from Japanese to English.
I dont’ know about that since I have never seen the English version yet.
I like it so far… I also like the animation… my brother and sister think that it looks kinda weird, but I don’t mind.
