Dark Aeons and Penance

No this is not me requesting for help with these nasties. I would just like to know people’s theories on them.

The Dark Aeons, I mean what has happened for them to look different and be so exceptionally powerful to the ordinary aeons used in the pilgrimage. It could be stated that they are ‘dark’ and more powerful because they are being used for bad purposes. But surely when Seymour summons Anima against you in Macalania they would of the been the ‘Dark Anima’ you can fight in Gagazet?

Also what about Penance? What is the backstory to this exceptionally powerful entity? Do you think Square really have any backstory to these entities? Or just hoped us hardcore fans would spare their blushes?

maybe thier so extraordinairy powerful because they are summened with the help of Ju-Yevon?

Isn’t Penance kind of like atoning for evil you’ve done? There might be significance in that name.

I don’t think it could be to do with Yu Yevon, he is no-longer a thinking entity anymore. All he can do is possess Aeons. Plus it is the Yevon disciples who wield the Dark Aeons.

As for Penance, I just wondered who created him/it.

or they use souls from the farplane? just as seymor uses them for morphing

Here’s an idea. The Dark Aeons and Penance are bonus bosses. They don’t need any particular reasons for being there.

Penance?that’s from FFX international right? can somebody post a picture i have never heard of him before.

I don’t think there’s any real explanation for the Dark Aeons and Penance. They were kind of tacked on to the game’s International Edition as a bonus feature, right?

That`s the Reason! Of course ,its so obvious

Stop sucking up to Cid, Richter. -_-;

I was really hoping for some like ideas or theories of how Penance is formed and such…

Like ‘imagination’…

sorry I did not want to criticize anybody

If you use an item with the ‘sensor’ ability while fighting your aeons, you’ll notice that they are all telling you to kill them. Ixion is saying “End it right here”, Anima says “Thus I Atone”, and so on with the rest. I’ve never played this version, so what does Penance say?

The Aeons themselves are incarnations of the Fayth, even though they were controlled by Yu Yevon. Perhaps Penance is the other Fayth, the rest of them, if you will. Though Yu Yevon is grasping at straws to control anything in attempt to survive, the Fayth still want release from their dream. The name ‘Penance’ seems to fit with the attitude of the Aeons when you kill them.

hhmmm I guess Dark Masamune meant the Aeons summoned by the Ju-Yevon guys, as far as i know they dont say anything (if I’m right)

I have no idea what the dark aeons say, I was answering this.

As I said Yu Yevon can only possess the Aeons that destroy Sin. Like when he takes over the Final Aeon and turns it into the new Sin. Long ago the summoner Yevon made the Fayth but now he is Yu Yevon he no longer controls the Fayth/Aeons, they are just in place to serve their purpose.
The ones in FFX-2 are evil because of Shuyin’s influence. Even though they should have been erased from the world, Shuyin remembers them, and has brought them back against their will. Perhaps it’s kind of the same case for FFX?

Though Aldred is probably on to something with the thing about the last boss Aeons in FFX. Maybe they’re the original aeons, and Yu Yevon is making them suffer?
Ever heard of Spoilers? Just for the guys who haven’t played it yet, you should mark possible spoilers black.

Or maybe the ones Yuna can summon are fake ones and the Yevon bunch can summon the original Aeons?

No they are not the original Aeons. You see the Fayth take their characteristics into their Aeon forms. Like Bahamut Fayth has a halo on his clothes so he has a spiritual halo on him in his Aeon form. So no they are not the original Aeons…

but Black Bahamut has an halo as well
