Preorder it. NOW!
I just did last night, literally. Im ahead of you.
I did it yesterday afternoon.
Going to pre-order it this week at EB Games.
I preorded it like a week ago you laggy heathen.
I full-paid it sometime in August.
anyone know what kind of system requirements this will have?
This sucks. I just got III this summer…
Not much higher than Pirates, I would imagine. It runs on the same graphics engine. And beside, Sid is usually good with keeping system requirements low in his games.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be playing this as soon as I can find a copy of it somewhere
The game looks like shit from a purely graphical standpoint. Not only the execution, but the design itself. Nothing pisses me off more than taking a beautiful 2d visual experience and turning it into a haggard 3d. Castlevania anyone? I’m extremely skeptical about this one. It looks like it could be on Nintendo 64. Maybe with the expansion unit, maybe.
Graphics isn’t Civ. But anyway, they are screenshots taken from the preview release, and besides, the graphics are hardly done justice in stillshots. They look quite good in the movies.
I find the ability to be immersed in a beautifully designed environment critical to my enjoyment of any game in which your conquering of that environment is the goal. I’ve seen movies and I’ve played Pirates and I was impressed by neither.
While I disagree wholeheartedly about Pirates or Civ4 looking like an N64 game, I will admit I am wary of the switch to 3d. It wont affect the game in the end, but I definately liked the 2d look of the first few.
I think my main issue was not with level of detail, but how it seems like all the screenshots are so zoomed in.
Oooh… pretty leather case…
But yeah - from what I’ve heard, it also has a massive religious system in it… true?
And definitely a must-get for me. I’ve been playing this since Civ2.
Ninten:cool:
It has religion, yes. I wouldn’t really call it massive though. It doesn’t do much but to bring more into the relations between Civilizations. You can read more about it here.
Alright, i know the thread’s not been posted in for awhile, but this really needed pointing out.
I just got civ 4 today, and… well… the Great Artists feature is pure awesome for just one fact:

That’s right, Tycho Brahe. (Oh wait… astronomer. sorry :()
My pre-order copy is finally getting here tomorrow. I really can’t wait.
i got civ. 2 for my old computer and me and my dad liked it when we got this new comp we bought 3 i hope 4 is even bettter.
Got it wednesday. And I must say, I’m suprised how well multiplayer is done. I never imagined Civ being the most multiplayer oriented series out there, but I had real fun in both matches we played.
