But he’s right about everything important - it is Earisu （エアリス）, and the “su” character (“s” alone isn’t a character; also, a single character cannot be called a <i>set</i>) is used to represent “th” sounds.
Or how about “Earth”, like the original lame-o team wanted.
I think what ragnarok meant is that <i>all</i> “th” sounds map onto “sa,” “shi,” “su,” “se” or “so,” with these being the “s” character set. There was a Timothy in my Japanese class, for instance, and he became Timoshi – not Timosu.
Of course, the “th” ending would always be rendered as “su.”
I like Aeris because it reminds me of when I first played the game. Nostalgia, in other words.
I use both. Quite honestly I cried. though I think Cloud needs to lay off the pot once in a while.
