I know the correct pronunciation is Aerith - that’s what Square intended it to be, that’s what it is now in KH and AC. Aeris was a result of a mistranslation. BUT, when you talk about her or think about her, do you say Aeris or Aerith. I say Aeris because it’s what I’m used to, and it sounds prettier than Aerith. Aerith sounds like I have a lisp.
I say Aeris but if I’m writing anything to do with her I use Aerith. I say Aeris because its easier and shorter.
Even though Aerith is the correct spelling I still prefer Aeris.
Ditto.
Well, it works like this:
I prefer the sound of Aeris and usually use this.
Aerith is much more fitting. It doesn’t look or sound as cool, which fits Aeris’ personality. Man, I’m glad they killed her off.
Me too.I’m glad someone else agrees with me. Most people I talk to say they were shocked and sad when she snuffed it. I laughed, a lot.
I was msotly indifferent. She didn’t strike me as much of a character when I played the first time. later on, I could analyze and respect her more, but still, her death never saddened me. I jsut shrugged, and moved on.
I like the sound of aeris but I think i’ll start typing aerith from now on and pronouncing it aeris ^^. I think I’ll go with Valkyrie on the dieing part.
Same here!!!
I was really upset when she died. Probably because I was still pretty young then (10ish) and never saw anything like that before. Plus the music was really sad, which I suppose increased the effect of her demise.
And frankly, I use Aeris rather than Aerith. I donkt know why, I just like Aeris better.
So the correct pronunciation is Aerith right. And how do you represent those sounds in japanese?
Earisu
But the fact that the “s” character set can represent “th” caused the mistranslation.
I cried when she died. I cry when pretty much anyone dies in a videogame or movie
FFIV was my first RPG, so I was severely jaded from that about character deaths. It’s never a surprise when they die now - it’s a mild surprise when they stay dead, though.
But even though Aerith is dead she is still in AC so shes not really gone is she?
Yep.
Ah. I also enjoy inventing rules for languages I don’t understand.
spelling thead.
I prefer Aeris because I did not know in the game as I was playing it, that it was pronounced any other way.
I say Aeris. But I’m not attached to either one, I renamed her Aerin in my game.
I think that was either
A. her talking to him from the after life
or
B. Cloud gone off the deep end.
but also you see uhh whats his name the dude that used to be clouds friend, but got killed, with aeris at the end of the movie when their in that church looking building;cant remember his name though. Sorry never played the game was never a huge rpg fan but i saw the movie at my cousins a couple of days ago.
