Something I just received today via snail mail.

The Legend of Zelda/Mysterious Castle of Murasame Arranged LP - Zelda Side

This is one of the earlier Video Game Music LPs out there, it was released on July 1986. Very old, but also very awesome.

Notice the size of it compared to the Zelda Wind Waker Soundtrack…

Both games were composed by Koji Kondo, who is well known not only for Zelda, but Super Mario Bros. as well.

With this in mind… why don’t we discuss teh musical evolution of the Zelda series. Do you guys think they’ve progressed alot over the years ?

Honestly, I still like the music of the earlier games in the series a lot more than the current games… >_>

You can hum it, from Day 1 OST?!

Dood! If they shoved that in to a new game several people would think it’s brand new!!

I agree. Who can forget the awesome music that played in Dungeon 9 of the first Zelda?

And Zelda II probably has my favorite soundtrack of any Zelda game.

Not to mention the Hyrule overworld music that even today, is one of the most recognizable pieces of VG music in the world (Probably number 2 behind the SMB theme).

Zelda music was all downhill after LttP

i stopped at lvl 2 of majora’s mask, but i <3 anything from z1 to z3. z4 & 5 were soso from what i remember. hm i sitll have those cds…and all that music on my comp. maybe its time for a look :slight_smile:

Oh yeah … I remember having a totally awesome of z2’s final dungeon music. I think I’ve still never heard the actual ingame version, but still.

I get the song from the final dungeon of Link’s Awakening stuck in my head on occasion, but that’s about the only zelda song that ever really stuck with me beyond the song that plays in most overland areas of ALTTP and others.

The instrument song in Awakening is my favorite, the one that you play once you gather all eight instruments. Besides for that, the Song of Time and Bolero of Fire from OoT were pretty good, the latter especially when played together with Sheik.
