Yu-gi-Oh is evil

Thriss is good for an emergency boost, and the Cloudscraper is a great basher, despite its upkeep. Only a few cratures can get past Jareth. As for the rest, I once used creatures with activated abilities to destroy artifacts and enchantments, but I switched them for Aura Shards, which does the job even better. Also, Silklash Spider is a real anti-air battery, thanks to its ability. Add a Venomspout Brackus and a few beasts, and you’re set with a good all-purpose force. I’m still trying to cut down the mana costs, and Mirari’s Wake is great to meet them. Too bad the White Mana Batery is restricted in some formats. Also, with Shackles and Vengeance you can take out your opponent’s strongest creatures. I’ve also added a Tigereye Cameo for more flexibility, and I’m considering adding a few Sungrass Prairies, since I sometimes don’t draw the right land to do what I’m planning. The greatest problem is really the mana cost.

All of this Manus, and a 1/1 flying creature with gaseous form and lure may still spoil most of it. Specially when said creature is a Giant Seagull.

How so? Gaseous Form seems very much like Sandskin. And Lure… Hmmmm… Well, it can make al the defenders rush in. However, Testament of Faith creates a barrier, which blocks any number of non-flying attackers.
Anyway, the Silklash Spider can damage flying creatures outside of combat and I still have something for emergencies: Crush of Wurms! Akroma’s Vengeance + Crush of Worms = 3 6/6 Wurm tokens in play without a single creature to stop them. I’ve been trying to put up a good defense against flying creatures and having Aura Shards is like having 20 Diesnchants in the deck.
Any suggestions for improvements? With Mirari’s Wake I think I could use the Sigil more easily.

Get that blue enchant that makes all creatures lose flight. Nuff’ said. There is also another blue enchant thats goes “0: makes target creature a flying one”. It has Wyvern in the name.

As for my seagull, if it is killed in combat, all blockers or attackers engaging or engaged by it die (gotta pay some 2-3 manas for that). Lure forces all creatures able to do so to block him and makes him able to block all attacking creatures at once. Gaseous form is just a boost to it which I use when I enchant lure on something other than the seagull, it prevents a creature from taking combat damage. Some spells, Anaba shamans and your spider are a way around it, but without those, a single creature with lure & gaseous form may render all the creatures of the opponent useless.

Good one! I try to supplement the deck with creature removal power to destroy key creatures and destroy my opponent’s strategy. But I must say that your combo is impressive.
Still, finding opponents around here is difficult, so I spend most of the time deducing moves… sigh Too bad… Maybe someday I can enter a tournament…

I haven’t played with someone for years now. All I have done is remaking strategies. I know how that feels ;_;

I wrote those based on my near-short term memory, which is quite innacurate >_<. I’ll be pleased if you point and correct my errors.

The reason I didn’t correct them is because that would be smartassed and annoying. I don’t feel I have any enemies and don’t really want to make them.

I’ve been rethinking my attitude towards Yu-gi-Oh. It doesn’t seem so bad to me now. The program did a good thing in catching my attention towards it. My former opinion came more from a small group of players that doesn’t represent the whole than the essence of the game itself. I’ve dropped down my Yu-gi-Oh prejudice. So if one of the people you think would be annoyed is me (because of censorable things I’ve said some months ago), feel free to post anything now.

Good Ren, now buy yourself the starter decks and annoy your friends. Just kidding. But YGO is quite fun, its not so simplistic, the early editions were but the new ones are quite tactical. I don’t mock M:TG because I’ve never tried it, in fact, I don’t know where I can buy the cards offline or anyone who plays or I would play too.

I watched one episode today (yu-gi vs. that guy who only had sea monsters). That looked wonderfuly strategicful for me. That moon card trick was strategy to the square. I just didn’t get why they were forced to fight just for eating the guy’s fishes…

Yu-Gi-Oh is relatively recent in some countries, but it can be interesting, as long as it keeps a degree of original additions. Magic is still kicking, partially because of the new rules and functionalities that are added to each set.

Cos its a cartoon, they needed an excuse. I don’t watch the show, I’ve seen a couple of episodes but it seems a little childish.

If a store sells YGO, it most likely sells M:tG.

And is that the ep. where Yugi makes 97684596975309765409604704760 of those furry little things? That’s the only ep. I ever saw.

I’ve been watching more episodes, but still haven’t got to that one. A friend of mine told me he got the weakest creature of the game and cloned it to abuse point and thus made a super defense with it. I do something that looks like it in M:tG with my Spiky Starfish (0/1 blue, U:regeneration. Creates a starfish everytime it regenerates - this starfish can’t create others though).

The creature is called Kuribo, and it isn’t exactly the weakest card in the TCG but it seems to have the weakest stats without any kind of effect. In the TCG, you just fill up your bench with Kuribo tokens till it is full, ok for defense but can be eaisly countered.

Something I dislike about M:TG

ESPN 2 shows M:TG tournaments.

On the other side of the country, you have Evolution 2002-2003 , which has a lot more action and perhaps as much strategy (yes, yes, strategy), but yet, still doesn’t get shown.

I can understand people saying “Who wants to see a bunch of guys playing video games?” to which I counter with “Who wants to see a bunch of guys playing card games?”

No stores near me sell M:TG anymore, they used to but they stopped and only sell YGO.

No one in my area sells much MTG or YGO.
Oh, well.

A place next to my house sometimes has cards from the Invasion and Torment sets, along with the recent ones, and another place I know still has Odyssey boosters. That comes in handy when I want to stock up on less recent cards.

There is a store some blocks from here that sells everything RPG & card game related. Name an RPG book and you find it there. It has simply al lthe current + a lot of old M:tG decks & boosters.

Haven’t been there for a while, though… Gotta pay them a visit.
