Wireless Problems

I’ve been using a wireless connection for two years now, and up until now, it has been working fine. However, my internet connection has recently been shot to hell.

To be more specific, I can connect to my home’s network (which includes my brother’s computer, my dad’s laptop, and a wirless printer), and can freely work with the base station (since it has remote access), but I cannot connect to the Internet. And when I can, it either runs like shit or refuses to load certain pages until after I’ve tried six or seven times.

I’ve scanned for viruses several times, but have always come up empty. I’ve also checked for spyware, adware, trojans, etc., but there’s nothing that should block internet access. I managed to get it to work for a few days by unplugging and replugging the router and modem, but I have to keep doing that to keep the damn thing working. The same thing’s happened to every other computer. Does anyone know what the hell is going on?

You need to be more specific. What brand of router are you using? Model number? Such and such?

Sorry. I forgot about that.

The base station is a Microsoft MN-500. My brother and I use Microsoft MN-510 adaptars. The laptop uses an integrated Intel receiver (my mom’s using it right now, so I can’t check the actual model). The printer has a Linksys adaptar.

Also, my computer and the laptop both use Windows XP. My brother’s computer uses Windows 98. Hopefully this will help.

Is it just your computer having trouble connecting to tyhe Internet, or are the others also having problems?

All the computers are having trouble.

Check your configuration settings ( http://192.168.2.1 ) to make sure there’s no problems. If nothing’s wrong in the software, try replacing your cable from your router to your modem.
