What's the Worst RPG you've played?

SG already beat me to 7th Saga. Quoting Zero regarding leveling in this game:

It defines analism.

Phantasy Star III: No, for the love of God, just NO. This game has one of the less interesting and badly written dialogues I’ve ever seen, the graphics are in a way worse then the one in PSII and even worse, it’s card game based. To this day I can’t go past the first half hour without awakening a suicidal wish.

Legend of Dragoon: Okay, nice graphics. Okay, awesome opening theme. Okay, bothersome but passable battle system. WHO THE FUCK TRANSLATED THIS THING?

DV is a sequel to Drakkhen? Talk about a sequel being better than the original. (Which doesn’t really say much, DV wasn’t too hot either.)

Well, I liked TSOTS, I mean, it wasn’t amazing or anything, but I still enjoyed playing it. There’s just really nothing outstanding about it is the thing.

I personally don’t hate 7th Saga as much as everyone else seems to, but I admit that it is incredibly tedious. It’s my mom’s favorite game, though.

SG and I were talking about it in the chat one day, particularly about that annoying loud brass chord that plays before every battle. SG put it nicely when he said that it’s much like some guy coming up behind you before every battle and saying “sup, dude, check out this new song I wrote” and then just playing that same song that he did before. That joke was enough to get me to play through the game again. Whenever I was getting bored, I’d just wait until an enemy encounter and think to myself “sup, dude, check out this new song I wrote.”

Grandia Xtreme, I got it hoping for Grandia 3 or something. Boy was I wrong. I played it to the first dungeon and just couldn’t take it anymore.

Probably Xenosaga. There are some average games that don’t do it for me, but XS was just bleh. However, it’s not really the WORST RPG. Just my least favorite. There is a slight difference. I dunno what the worst would be, probably FF:MQ (although I find that game fun in its simplicity).

BAHHHHHHHH!!! BABABABAHHH BABAHHHH BAHHH BABAHHH BABA song

Nod

Secret of Mana

Hey it’s an enemy! charge…charge…charge…charge… LEVEL 7 SWORD ATTACK GO SPIN AROUND AND SHIT! Oh it missed, awesome!

charge…charge…charge…charge…

I found that game with my friend Rob at Funcoland a while back. We played it, and at one point you had to cross a bridge. When you got on a bridge some sharks jumped up and ate 3 of our 4 party members.

After this happened Rob went outside and threw the game into the woods.

Darn it, SE took PSIII. Okay then, uh … dammit, I can’t think of any RPGs. Other stuff, I can think of a bunch.

And now my teammate is stuck in a tree. Maybe if i stand behind him? …no…to the side maybe? Dammit, that didn’t work either…Maybe if i just run around in circles he will get the idea and follow me? Oh fuck this.

I never really hated any games, but there are some points that make me want to punch the TV with aggrivation:

Legend of Dragoon: the only time you could ever level up was with bosses, otherwise it took forever.

FF8: yes, someone must complain about the enemies leveling up when you do.

FF5: Why are the graphics worse than FF4?

Saga Frontier 2: one of my favorite RPGs but…wtf? Love the graphics and story, but…wtf?

Someone mentioned that Big Rig game. That is by far the worst game I have ever seen. The graphics could have been made better by a three-year old, no joke, and it sounds absolutely great, that means there is no sound: NONE. At least on they have a good theme and story: Wrong, it totaly blows @(&%. And great way to end a race:

YOUR’RE WINER!

I remember that part. if it wern’t for the fact that I have a twisted since of humor that part would have really pissed me off. also for some reason on the world map at every cross section theres a black tree that when you bump into it it turns into a giant black dog head and eats your party. talk about random. :moogle:

Couldn’t tell you, I try to avoid bad games.

I couldn’t stand Lord of the Rings for SNES very long. From the few hours I gave it:
Bad, tiny graphics (even by 1994 standards).
From the list of SNES action-RPGs I couldn’t take for very long, and the fundamental things that drove me away.
Off-center aiming for weapons, no healing except by the occasional item (or just lose the game, and everybody’s revived). And it wasn’t really clear where to go. And multiplayer mode is activated by holding R the whole frickin’ time? Does it get any better.
Not a good way to get people into the series…
Uh and Interplay was a damn liar… SoM was a multiplayer RPG that came out nearly a year earlier, and it was actually fun to play, with good music and large, clear graphics.
I also tried Addams Family Values… Another with the off-center aiming, only now your weapon (lighting bolts)'s range decreases as your health decreases (if there’s a spot you can return to, within the first couple hours of play, where you can get health refills, let me know). You also apparently can only get a password in one out of the way location.
I like Young Merlin, but you can only get passwords after certain events are entered (fairly good graphics for its time, and probably the only textless ARPG in existance), and I’ve had a few games wiped out because I opened the password screen in-play.
What other obscure English SNES ARPGs do we got?
King Arthur (Enix game based on a cartoon) - never played.
Lagoon - I forgot the plot, kinda slow and easy to get lost in the zoomed-in maps, but I guess it’s not too bad for being the first SNES ARPG.
Secret of Evermore - not obscure, but we gotta mention it. I suppose it not’s a bad RPG as much as it is a bad Square RPG. Alchemy system was unique idea, but when you need to raise formula’s levels to do any real damage, it becomes even more tedious than SoM’s magic system (now you not only need to cast the spells, but then you have to fight enemies to raise enough cash to repeat the process). And the second character being a dog puts a strain on the plot depth (not much to contribure). But, at least it’s playable, and admitably a couple of the tunes (in the later part of the game, where there actually IS music) are kinda catchy. But, the world’s smaller than Mana.

I played all the way through Legend of Dragoon, and I honestly can say that I’ll probably never do so again. It’s just so…grumble I don’t know. All the plot points that made me like it are like the ones in Grandia 2, something big at first, but nothing afterwards. I just don’t care about it anymore…I actually heard about some sequel about it. Then again, I heard about some sequel to Brave Fencer Musashi in 1998, or whatever year that game came out, and look how long it took for the sequel to come out.

Poeple say they don’t like FF8. I can understand that. I can’t understand people really enjoying FFV…for the life of me, I cannot enjoy that game. That’s the one with Butz and Galuf, right? Oh my gosh, forget your stupid job system. Gilgamesh, and that one scene involving Galuf in the forest. I’m quick replying this, so I’m not using spoiler tags, but I’m not talking about the first scene with him. You know, the good scene. Like the only good scene in the game. Yeah, that one.

I liked Saga Frontier 2. Unlimited Saga almost made me take that back.

Speaking of card games, Yu-Gi-Oh: Fofbidden Memories sucks ass in a way I can’t even begin to describe.

I did. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/driving/bigrigsotrr/review.html for more details.

Hydlide.

Do you, by any chance, consider chocolate truffle cake to be your least favourite food?

Anyway, I can’t say I liked Parasite Eve or Grandia very much.

You know Hades, even though it’s your favourite RPG you don’t need to defend FF8 from everyone and everything :stuck_out_tongue:

The worst RPG, well that would have to be LOTR: The Third Age…but that isn’t bad at all, it’s just that the other RPG’s I’ve played are better.

And no, I haven’t played THAT many RPG’s.
