I actually think a Lufia (or any other VG based) anime would be quite the hit. Maybe not so much for Lufia, but for things like the FF series, there’s an almost certain goldmine right under their fingertips.
There have been 2 FF based animes. The first was a complete flop, and I know a lot of people don’t have very high opinions of the second, FFU.
How could you not like the first Final Fantasy anime?

Star Ocean Ex did come out rather well, though it had its flaws. The thing the producers must do, even if they throw in stuff for people who’ve played the game the show’s based on, is to make the show good for people who’ve never played the game.
