What was your first FF?...

FF7 a few weeks before FF8 came out… I actually remember playing the game for the first time and thinking that it sucked… It was only the second RPG I ever played, and it didnt have the wierd japanese quirkiness of Breath of fire 3 which I loved. I didnt play RPG’s until half a year later when I went back to FF7… and actually playing it long enough to get past the first boss… Then I realised that the game actually rocked… It’s still one of my favourite RPG’s in my collection, and I have loads now… so it probably influenced me to buy the others.

What is Mystic Quest? This is the only place I’ve seen it mentioned (due mainly to the fact that I’m not a big gamer).

FFMQ was made after they released FFIIus, because Americans were mostly just casual gamers. They released FFMQ, a very basic RPG to get us “hooked” on FF and RPGs in general. Of course, they held off FFV to make this, and when FFVI came out in Japan, it did so well, they decided to skip FFV all together.

<img src=“http://cala.nulani.net/images/calacat.gif”>Check that, my first game was in '87. Not an RPG, no clue what it is, though. FFI is my first one, although my statement about the traveling remains; I didn’t know how to fight at all.

And apparently the puzzle was a big thing for me.

my first was ff7, and I can’t remember my age. it got me started on rpgs. loved the huge swords

My actual first RPG in general was the Eye of the Beholder series for DOS (I think 90). Anyone here play them?

FF7, only this August. now I want to know why the hell I didn’t get it before?

Yup, and I can’t believe you didn’t get it even after me and Karl constantly talked about it, with you in earshot I might add.

hate to say it alex, but this time you’re right

i believe my first Final Fantasy was FF2 for SNES, it was 2 or 3, not sure, and both times, i got stuck, at 2, at the White Dragon, and at 3, The boss where you get Sabin, i played both when i was around 5? :hahaha; but it also cold have been FFMQ, i had and still own all three SNES final Fantasies…

:wave:

You got stuck at those two bosses!? :hahaha; :hahaha; :hahaha;
They tell you exactly what to do!

My First FF was FF6, in its first American incarnation, “FF3”. I rented it at a Blockbuster Video. It was the FIRST RPG I ever played- and I was blown away by the movie-like intro and the story. However, I had problems playing it (I was onto platforms games, like Mario or Megaman, at the time, and didn’t quite get the hang of RPGs) so I returned it after only playing it for a few hours.

The FIRST RPG I played fully was SUPER MARIO RPG, because it was a MARIO game and I bought every one that came out. Fortunately, it was made by Square, so it had all the coolness I would later find in FF games.

The first FF game I played fully was FF7. They had a free playable demo in the corridors of a Toy Store I walked past in a local Mall. I tried it, and loved it. I’ve been playing RPGs ever since. (This was back in 97)

(I eventually got to play FF6 in the re-released version.)

My first final fantasy was #1 i was like 5 or 4 i started playing it since i saw my brother finish it,up to this date i havent beat it.

My first RPG was either Below the Root or Gemstone Warrior on the Commodore 64…

But my first FF was FF1 on the NES, i was about 7 or 8. I loved it, i even used trash can lids and yard sticks combined with seat pads as body armor to pretend i was a light warrior. I never made it past Astos then. Somehow leveling up on imps took me forever and never got me far.

I hated MQ, so much i deleted the rom after 5 minutes and never thought about it again… till just now. thanks a lot for bringing back such a terrible memory… you shall feel the wrath of my big nose forevermore !!!

Edited: i did my math a little better, and added the FFMQ comment.

Edit: whats with the double post ? can someone shitcan this one ?

FF8 in the 8th grade, though it was not my first rpg.

FF1, I was 6, I didn’t understand a thing and needed an adult’s help to just get the basics. I had less trouble with Dragon Warrior (which I played first) because it didn’t involve a party system, it was you against them in duels to the bitter end.

My first was 7, when I was 13. All I really did was watch a friend play and get killed by the guard scorpion in the reactor. XD

First I played was 6, with my cousin. That’s what really got me hooked.

And the first RPG was Mario, as the commercials looked cool. ^^;

:hahaha; …yeah i know, yet i wasn’t to fond of reading, so in my younger days i would just rush through the games, not reading anything, thats why the first RPG i beat was Mystic Quest, it was easy and had no strategy :hahaha;

My first was FF1 on the NES, I was probably somewhere between 7-8. It was FF6 (FF3 for SNES) that made me really enjoy the whole series. It’s still my favorite. Interestingly enough, FF1 is the only FF game I’ve started but haven’t completed yet, I’m stuck at the last temple. Someday I’ll pop it back in and try to finish it again.
