I guess you could call me a Buddhis.

:kissy:
For real? I’ve always thought that bhuddists were cool, I’ve never actually met one though.
Eden’s just saying that
Buddhists are mostly from the eastern parts of Asia including China and India. They focus on meditation and self-enlightenment (whatever the hell that means) and have branches (or maybe degrees of just how much of a strict guideline they follow) of itself also, much like some western religions.
Self-enlightenment is basically when your mind has the ability to reach beyond the understanding on “mortal minds”, to views things as they really are, not how they appear. Like God would.
At least I think that is the main idea behind it, of course not being a Buddhist, I’m not entirely sure.
Of course, “how they really appear” would be entirely subjective and up to debate and most likely indescribable and anyone who has claimed to achieved that state only has themselves as witnesses and entirely unprovable as “correct” or in fact anywhere close to “how things really appear”, but I guess this can be achieved through years of meditation so they say… or smoking large quantities of marajuana.
Oh yeah, you also forgot Wiccan
Why would it matter what region of the world you are in? O.o;
Being a Buddhis is about finding your own path to happiness through meditation and the search for your own personal wisdom and truth. So like… understanding yourself to understand the world and all that junk. Either way, I’m happy, so ^^

Good for you Eden. As for your question, I guess it was just simple curiosity, on Wizardmaster’s part, either that or pure boredom!

Islam is the religion, you are muslim if you follow it.and there are many different divisions of christanity
catholic ( which is what i am), baptist, methodist, episicpialian, and others
and there are many other religions with a good majority of folowers it them that you forgot. [/b]
Chrsitianity’s a division of Catholicism. Catholics were there first.
And Baptist, Methodist, Episicpialian, and such can all be grouped under Lutheran.
I used to be Shinto (Sorta like Buddhism, if you don’t know what it is), but I reverted to Christianity.
Catholic is Christianity, as it believes in Christ Jesus. But they were the first Christian people I believe, way before baptist and whatnot, though they are considered lutheran types, they are still considered Christians.
At least I think so… ^^ don’t quote me on any of this… I only know what I am ^^
shinto and buddhism are pretty fucking different…
also, agnostics don’t think there is a god but arent sure, agnostics arent sure either way
To answer the guy that asked about UU (Unitarian Universalist), they wouldn’t be grouped as Christians. I’m Unitarian, and the main belief that most hold is that there is no divine trinity (hence unitarian.) That means Jesus was not the son of God making us not Christians.
And Orak, did you just call Catholics Lutheran?

Uh…no. Catholics believe in the same God, but they don’t believe that Jesus is God. That’s kinda why it’s called Christianity. Because Christians believe Jesus Christ is God. Yeah.
And uh…Catholics are NOT Lutherans. I have no idea as to how you could confuse them like that since Lutherans were created when Martin Luther posted his 100 theses about what the Catholic church did to displease him, and that’s what created all the denominations like Lutherans, Calvinists, Baptists, and so forth.
And Catholics aren’t considered Christians. Christians came from Catholics. You can’t group a religion into the group that came from it.
…Thanks for explaining, Dai.
Me Catholic, eh? Man, that’d be one miracle to see…
Ah, the “Are Catholics Christians?” debate. It never ends, does it?
Anyway, I’m Catholic, and I believe Catholics ARE Christians. We believe in Jesus Christ, we worship God, we do everything the other Christian religions do.
while i can see where Dai is coming from, Catholics are “Christians” as the only thing neccessary to be Christian is believing that Jesus Christ is the savior of mankind. however, i’m not sure what Dai means when he says that Catholics dont believe Jesus is God, because they certainly do believe that he is 1/3 of the divine trinity, father, son, holy spirt that are the “three persons in one essence” as an old theology teacher of mine taught.
also, i’ve heard the lutheran religion refered to as “Catholicism Lite” more than once, so i can see where Orak is coming from as well.
myself, i was a catholic and went to private catholic schools my entire life until the second quarter of last year. i’m now a devout athiest.

That’s like an oxymoron or something.
The only time most people use devout is when referring to religion (someone is a very devout [insert religion here]).
Catholic is Christianity, as it believes in Christ Jesus. But they were the first Christian people I believe, way before baptist and whatnot, though they are considered lutheran types, they are still considered Christians.
when I said that they are considered lutheran, I meant ones like the baptist and whatnot… I just didn’t word it right. I know catholics are not lutherans because the whole catholic religion was founded way before the lutherans.
And Dai, thanks for clearing that up… I was shooting from the hip on that one, so I wasn’t exactly sure on it.
Well uhh… the way I see it, since humanity puts so much in a name, as Chirstans and Catholics -call- themselves diffrent things, then they are. I mean, a rose and a tulip are both flowers, but you don’t call a tulip a rose.
If they call one and other diffrent things, then by GOD they are
Simple as that, but I am sure there are plenty of arguements… but simple things are best, I think.
:kissy:
Wow, religion’s are more fucked up than I originally thought… I thought that would be impossible.
