Vampire Princess Miyu

Good? Not good? I read the back of a dvd volume and it looks cool…I’m usually into dark/romantic stuff so…? What is this like?

I rented two DVDs for the series a couple of years back, and I remember that I just didn’t get into it. To me, it was quite sedate, moreso than I really cared for at the time. I wish that I remembered more so that I could give you a more comprehensive view. Borrow it and check it out - it wouldn’t be a complete waste of time like some other stuff out there.

edit - You could check here for a review or two. It’s really a great site.

I vaguely remember that one. It didn’t really grab my attention when I watched it. I think the only part I remember is not liking some lady that hates all vampires. Even though it’s not vampires she should hate.

I bought the first DVD, and couldn’t work up the willpower to watch through more than the first 15 minutes, so I returned it and bought some candy instead.

I have the entire series on DVD.

My saving grace was it was cheap to buy the whole boxset >.>

Seriously though, if you like gothic, its got dark in spades. Its just… lame.

Unbearably lame. You never really care about any of the characters and half of the time their presence pisses you off. Sure Miyu’s guardian is a total badass, but then, he may as well be wolverine for all the originality they put into him. I mean really, he has claws, doesnt die and slices shit. Thats it.

The ending was predictable as hell.

Yeah… it was lame :stuck_out_tongue:

The ova is pretty good. The tv show is lame. She just throws fireballs

I watched a few episodes, and got a mixed meh/depressed feeling. I think the part where Miyu just says “I can’t do anything for them” and walks way with a shrug, leaving a heapload of frozen women doomed to an eternity standing upright and unmoving in a dark corridor, while still perfectly alive and able to cry, just sums it up.

The atmosphere of the series is excellent, the storyline and characters are pretty poor, and the art’s about average.

Hmm I have mixed feelings now

It’s one of those things that’s great to watch while studying or cooking or something else, because if you don’t pay attention, you just soak up the atmosphere at the flaws aren’t really noticable.
