If he really were an idiot he couldn’t have hid the second family for anywhere near that long. Poor kids, they have to deal with the fact that their father had a secret life and family. That’s gotta hurt emotionally.

Marriages are based on trust, and trust kills suspicion, and suspicion is what those two wives would have needed.
And all he would have had to do was move to the Middle-East and convert to Islam. Then it would have been perfectly legal too: As long as he threathed them equally, which it seems like he did.
