Here everyone will be able to post any news regarding the fan-translation world
The text format to use could be the following:
Game: it would be better if it's the full name and version
Genre: genre of the game
Original language: the original language of the game being translated
System: console name
Translator: name of the translation group of person involved
Homepage: url
Translation language: English is prefered
Comments: tell something regarding the game and/or the patch
Well, there isnāt any ETA for it, but itās normal with these things :P. About the completion status, itās at 40% according to the projects section, but I donāt know if itās up to date.
Uhmā¦ maybe itās better to leave this thread only for news and releases and let people open new threads to ask any thingā¦ what do you say?
Name: Der Langrisser
Console: SNES/SFC
Genre: SRPG
Translators: Byuu, D, MoonKnight, others
Original Language: Japanese
Comments: The team is trying to finish up the translation, but people in the community keep begging them to get it done, and the old saying goes that for each time someone asks when a translation will be done, it will be pushed back a day(by that thesis, it will be done by the second Ice Age)
Also, one of the translators released the LangFand00d patch, which is a complete translation that was run through BabelFish on Altavista.net, as an April Fools joke because people kept begging. The LangFand00d patch is pretty incoherent, considering it was run through BabelFish
The Der Langrisser project has been a very long process, and it was started more than three years ago. Currently, the available patches are the LangFand00d patch and the No-Life patch by MoonKnight, which translates the Light Path only.
There has been a large number of people involved in Der Langrisser, and itās had its share of sour moments where files and script were lost, among other things.
One of the translators said that because of the coding in the game, this is easily one of the most difficult projects out there.
Name: Langrisser 2
Console: Sega Genesis/Megadrive
Genre: SRPG
Translators: Byuu, D, MoonKnight, others
Original Language: Japanese
Comments: This is a reworking of the Hiryuu Honyakāu patch made to fix the prologue, rework the script, and fix the bugs in the old patch.
The Hiryuu Honyakāu patch works on Genecyst, Kega, and Megasis
Comments: The patch is 80% completed, I canāt say much else, I never played the game, I guess the original translation was very bad to have a fan-based one.
EDIT: OK, the translation is for the NES version, previously untranslated :P. Well, at least I know Kitsune Sniperās new comments arenāt headed to me xD.
Kitsune translated the Famicom version of Ys III, not the Super Famicom version (so the translation was just translating a game never released in English, not re-translating a poorly translated gameā¦ still pretty pointless though. =P).
Comments: Gift from Nightcrawler :P. The patch is just a teaser, it mainly covers the menus, read the txt file within the ZIP file to know about known bugs. The game is very nice, and Iām sure a lot of you will enjoy it!
Comments: The sixth part of this excelent series, the patch came out some weeks ago, but it was unnoticed by most people ^^U. The patch translates the dialogues up to the 10th chapter, and the author will be taking a break these holydays.
FCE Ultra eXtend Debugger. Its got a LOT of new and useful features, though most of them are geared towards homebrewing nes games and asm-level work, its still the best nes emulator to date, imo!
Game: Energy Breaker Genre: RPG Original Language: Japanese System: Super Famicom/Super NES
Translation Language: English
Comments: It seems the project is not dead, and may see the light soon. The hacking is very advanced, with a few things left, and there are two patch versions planned: a āliteralā patch for purists and an āanglicisedā patch (surely with sexual comments removed).
<b>Game:</b> Cave Story ~ Doukutsu Monogatari
<b>Genre:</b> Action Platformer (think metroidvania or wonderboy!)
<b>Original Language:</b> Japanese
<b>System:</b> PC/Windows
Comments: Action gaming at its absolute finest! Plenty of exploration, tons of secrets, three endings, and some tough-as-nails bosses! You canāt go wrong, and the gameās freeware to boot!
Well, I must admit that I didnāt post about it because Iām rarely interested on these type of PC gamesā¦ but everyone can participate in the thread :P.
Game: Treasure Hunter G Genre: RPG Original Language: Japanese System: Super Famicom/Super NES
Translation Language: English
Comments: The new beta patch is available for download. New font, the Hermanās Cave bug fixed, a few dialogues missing translation fixed, some item, places, skills retranslatedā¦ What a pain I have several exams these weeksā¦ :P.
