How do YOU pronounce it? I usually say “Tee-dis” seeing as how thats what it was in EGMs cover story a couple of years ago. Was curious how many people pronounce it this way.
I uaually pronounce it Tide-us sort of like that old show on Fox called Titus but with a d instead of the extra t
Oops. Yeah, Tide-us was what I was supposed to type instead of Ti-tus.
I say Tide-us. Pity KH runined the pronunciation of it, (Wakka calls him Teedus.)

Ruined? I’ve always said Tide-us, but only because I never thought about it. Looking at it now, the name is clearly a Latin name, and so the “i” would be pronounced “ee”. Also, going by classical Latin, the “u” would sound like the “oo” in moo. I can’t really tell from the poll, but how you have it, the pronunciation could be either “us” or “oos”. I’ve never played KH, so I don’t know how it’s “officially” pronounced.
The official pronunciation (based on how it’s spelled in Japanese) is “tee-d3s” (with the 3 being a schwa). So KH got it right. Sorry to burst your bubble.
I’ve never played the game but I always assumed it was Tee-Dus, though I kinda reconsidered then since hearing the “Tight Ass” joke. Interesting.
I always say Tie-dus…

Is a schwa that upside-down “e” symbol dictionaries use?
Tie-d(schwa)s

Yes it is
I’ve always called him Tide-us, but I don’t really care how you are meant to prodonce it, since people always know who I’m on about anyway.
Japanese names don’t matter, ie Aerith.
So is Aeris prounounced identically to Aerith then (in English)?
It’s spelled identically in Japanese. Aeris was a translation error (there were lots of them in FF7). 8p It should have been Aerith, and the spelling was corrected in KH.
I’m talking about in English, the language that the version of FFX I presume we’re talking about is in.
I usually pronounce it TI-Tus rather then TI-Dus, and I always call Aires, Aerith.

I know.
Tide-us for me. I read it like it looks like it should sound.
I have also always said Tidus, but simply because i never gave it much thought heh.
Oh and I guess im one of the few that couldnt stand KH heh. I got to Wonderland and never played it again.
Final Fantasy X had to be the worst one in the series to date. Seriously FF MQ was better than X was. I really don’t care for the topic but I’ll say…Tide-us!!
