Ok, so I got a TI83+ a couple years ago, and its given me a BUNCH of problems. First I accidentally deleted the OS. Mostly my fault, but then it wouldn’t recognize that the calculator even existed. So, I got an OS on it a year ago, and now its doing this weird thing. When I turn it on, a black line goes across the screen in a random place, then fades out in different speeds, randomly. If i press ON again, nothing happens, but if i do 2nd ON (which is OFF) it repeats the process. Taking out and putting the batteries back in over and over eventually works, but is QUITE a hastle. I’ve replaced the Batteries and the watch battery thing. HOW DO I FIX MY GAY CALCULATOR?
Is it the correct OS for a TI-83+?
How the hell did you clear the OS??
I’m pretty sure it is. It MIGHT be for TI-83, but it worked for like, a year until this started happening.
Well, when i bought it, it was REALLY MAJOR COOL to have games on the calculator. So i got the cord that came with it and hooked it up. Then it was like: “YOU CAN UPDATE YOUR CALCULATOR OS!!! ITS SO FREAKIN AWESOME” so i did. It backed up the old OS on my computer harddrive, then whiped it from the computer. Then it wouldn’t recognize that the calc existed, so it wouldnt update OR put the backup on.
It might be something as simple in the modes. I had a problem semi-like this and the only way it went back to normal for a while is if I took out the batterries. It turns out that taking out the batteries so many times resets everything on it back to default. So It’s either that, or maybe the OS has some tweaky defaults that it shouldn’t.
Check TI’s website, they support that stuff pretty well, and have most of the uploadable programs posted there.
