Illigal copy is popular in China. The one who buy illigal copy will not be punishied, and they only arrest those who produce, and fine those who sell illigal copy. At the same time, they ban video game, and restrict Anime import. So, there’s a lot illigal copy in China… Just like this.
My Anime DVD( That’s not all of them)
6 yuan each
Game for PS2( That’s not all of them again)
5 yuan each
(I have more game for PC, PS…)
Buying like crazy, I already have that many…::dekar!::
I do find it quite odd that they don’t hand out any form of punishment for those who buy these illegal products. From what I’ve seen in some European countries have been actual raids in certain places to check if they sell anything illegal. And buyers too have been suspended.
I don’t really see a problem with it, since most games aren’t sold in china, and importing has restrictions, making it hard (almost impossible) to get legit copies. Heck, I don’t see anythign wrong with pirating games never released in your country.
In Norway it isn’t illegal to own illegal copies, it is just illegal to use them. And yes, we have very silly laws. Not as silly as those the USA got though.
And it is worse in Russia. Almost everything is worse in Russia.
For the record, 5-6 yuan is about 1 Canadian dollar. So uh, yeah, he’s buying those things for about a buck each. And yes, it is just as bad if not worse in Russia.

It’s a neat situation. My friend has a Nintendo/Atari hybrid from Hong Kong, with eighty or so games on it.
By the way, you don’t post on the Cross-X debate forum, do you? I remember someone with your picture whose location was Wuhan University.

Here in Brazil we get everything for about the same price as they do in China, but everything here is controlled by a mafia.
They give us special advantages for buying pirated stuff: pirate networks in the internet where you can play RO, UO, T4C and other games for free, discounts for those who buy in huge amounts, gifts for loyal clients, 90 day warranty - for bad burning problems only, they double-check the integrity of every disc they send - they send you CD’s with updates for your software for free and last but no least, you don’t have to go to a store, as they have people hired to deliver the discs just as you would have pizzas delivered.
The Federal Police could tackle the pirates easily if they wanted to, but then they would lack their most important software supplier, so we can feel considerably safe.
So you see, we more than beat the rest of the world when it comes to illegal copying.

Sony wanted to release PS2 in China on 20 Dec last year, but was stopped. ( The goverment paper said video game is a kind of drug that Capitalism countries produce to poison Socialism country’s children… )

I heard that Sony decided not to release it in China ebcause it would be copied so fast that they wouldn’t really make money off of it.
In this article they say it was delayed on their part. However, I would say that your government paper is lying since they call them “capitlist drugs”.
I don’t think the government is lying as from the sound of what Sun is saying, no reason FOR the cancellation is given, merely a comment on the government’s belief it is bad.

Heh, no, I think it was the Communist Manifesto. But I’m looking forward to reading The Dream of the Red Chamber sometime this semester.
Maybe you don’t know this: in a socialism country, It’s what the leader said rather than law really works. Court is a part of the government who do not really respect law.
5 to 6 yuan? where do you get your stuff? I know some places where you get things waaaay cheap-- I mean…

And for all those who want to sue everyone who buys illegal copies of DVDs/CDs/games: if they really did that, about everyone I know over here, including me, would be in jail by now, because pretty much everyone has at least around 100 fake CDs and DVDs and game and stuff. Admitted, I have a lot myself, but that’s nothing against what my friends have. I know some people who have around 2000 DVDs, pretty much every movie you could think of o_o; Not to mention games. I bought most of my GBC/GBA games over here.
Actually, it’s quite a common thing over here. You meet your friends, go to starbucks or whatever, “hey, the Lido is near. Wanna buy a few movies for tonight?” “'k. And this Warcraft III CD of mine wasnt working. Gotta buy a new one.” That’s kinda how we do it every day.
