A lot of people have been asking me what the hell that picture in my sig is, so here’s your answer. It’s the very first alpha screenshot of SC, and that page charts it’s evolution in screenies from WC-In-Space to the finest multiplayer RTS ever. Go, look at it, it’s really interesting.
Oh, and while I’m at it, here are the originalthreepictures from the N64 tech demo before Square bugged out for Sony (recognise the characters? ;D). Looks like the characters who would become Shadow, Locke and a skimpier-dressed Celes.
And This site has a bunch of Ocarina of Time screens from various points of development. Stare in shock and horror.
The Zelda stuff was really interesting to look through, its really cool to see what the character evolved from in his early stages via the transition to 3d.
I’m sure this has been asked before, but…has anyone ever made homebrew SC/BW campaign missions? I can’t really play games over the line while at college due to the infernal firewall they use on the network, and I don’t currently have a regular 56-k ISP either, so I was hoping to play at least some form of the game.
Try http://www.starcraft.org and looking for the “Shifters” missions. All real playing missions (3 or 4 of them) are ~1 hour in length. Really, really fun, and it even has a kickass storyline and things like added music.
That world map screenshot looks better than the world map included in the final game. Maybe its just because that map is isometric, but it looks cooler.
