What you need to do is talk to everyone in your party. Namely Aeris (downstairs), Yuffie (if you have her, also downstairs), Tifa (on the deck), Red XII (who is having trouble walking, trust me you will see him). Then go back and talk to Aeris, then go all the way to the left and talk to Barret.
And that should be it, now that wasn’t too hard was it. You can now continue with the story.
