Taking pics using Divx player...

I’m trying to get a pic from one of my video files for my halloween avatar, but I can’t get the damn pic to work. It always ends up as just a black screen. Is it possible to get it to work, or do I have to find another halloween avatar? Or will you all ignore this thread and go on with your daily life?

Actually, if you pause it it may work. It usually does for me, at least.
Try contacting me via MSN or AIM and sending me the video. I’ll do it for you if you can’t seem to get it to work :

I always get a black screen when I try to do that with video files.

I was able to get screenshots of video files in DivX. I don’t know why your guys’ don’t work.

Steve: What program do you use? I use Paint; maybe that’s it right there.

Adobe Photoshop 7.0

Urk yeah, I have the same problem with both DivX and Windows Media Player. Neither Merl or 984 could figure it out either --. Can I get you to do a bit of picture taking for me too Steve? >>

Sure.
Send the videos my way, I’d be happy to take pictures

Yay alright, I’ll PM you with the info on it.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> It’s some crazy Windows setting, I just wish I knew which one.

I have this problem too. I’ve always wanted to take a pic of a particularly awesome blue flame on a black backround used in Noir to use as my desktop, but whenever I paste the picture (into PSP 7, mainly), it’s all black as well.

You can’t get an image from a video using any of the video players, the best way to get an image from a video is to use virtualDub, you can get it from here, enjoy.

You don’t.
You download Irfanview and use that.
