The thing is, unlike true surrealism, all of those things can be explained logically within the game world without actually having to think about it.

It’s a game, aka something you play for fun. Not all of us give a hoot if you think it has surreal aspects, hell the surreal aspects, as CC has just proven, are barely surreal at all. Games aren’t meant to be read so far into them all the time, sure IoG is a game where a kid is turned into a fish and a girl can turn into a dandelion although her name is Lilly but you don’t hear the rest of us babbling about how it’s hardly surreal at all.
