Startup problems

So I finally return home after a few months of absense, and I decide that since my Laptop has become my main computer I would leave the desktop computer to my mother, but after coming home and trying to start it up I notice that the tower just won’t turn on,the screen is fine and everything, but it just won’t turn on,any help you can give me?

Is it plugged in? (durr hurr)
It the power supply switched on? (on the back)
Are all connections from the tower to the monitor and everything else ok?

When you press the button, is any sound made from the tower?
Do any lights go on?
Does the motherboard POST? (is anything printed to the screen?)

Computers usually don’t just randomly die…something has to happen to them. Perhaps a surge of power when your mother did not notice? Perhaps the tower was moved, and the internal cords were knocked out of place?

Plugged in is preaty obvious, but yeah it seems all cords are in order, however when I try to turn it on there’s a very faint red light just below the turn on switch, and there is no POST is as if the tower itself refuses to turn on.

There is definitly something wrong with the motherboard then, and that means something probably happened to it, such as a surge, or it got wet.

Just double check the connections inside the computer to be sure, otherwise, its a hardware issue and i doubt we can help you too much =(

Try checking the motherboard for cracks… there could be breakages in any number of busses… that’s what happened to a computer that one of my friends has…

Ninten:cool:

Um, besides the motherboard, check ure power supply.
