No, I don’t mind that it looks dated, I mean… dayum, he looks like he has some weirdo wings sticking out of his hips. And that grin and the eyes are just wrong.
So yeah, I think they got the “chaos” bit down.

Oh my God, that’s the coolest Sonic comic I’ve ever seen. Point taken!
It that Tails’ plane he’s blowing the hell out of? That’s awesome. I like this Super Sonic MUCH more than the current one.
Yeah, this was a segment of the plotline where Super Sonic saves the day . . . and then promptly turns on the team He takes down the plane. After some maniacal laughter, we then get a page of burning, wrecked landscape with normal Sonic staring in shock with a "What have I done?"complex and the rest of the team (this is the OLD team - Porker Lewis, Amy Rose, Sally Acorn etc.) supposedly dead.
Sonic The Comic was awesome once it got going X3
I really need to look into the old Sonic comics, that sounds great.
Oh yeah! I just remembered something. When I watched the old SatAm episodes on Youtube, they had the final episode that they made on the series. There, Sonic and Sally manage to kill Robotnik, but at the very end Snively comes out from the spoils from an emergency elevator. He then goes from having been a meek comic relief to acting, for a couple of minutes, like a new madman. He walks off screen declaring “and I am not alone!” and laughing manically. In the darkness of the elevator, we then see a pair of glowing red eyes before the episode ends.
In a comment about this, somebody at Youtube said something about those eyes belonging to somebody named “Naugis”. Does anybody know what that was about? LC? Anyone?
Nagus appeared in one of the earlier episodes (I forgot which one). He was some guy in the void or something that wanted to escape and conquer everything. He was supposed to become the villian in the new third season, with Robotnik returning as his henchman, but ABC cancelled the series, leaving the show on a cliffhanger.
Yeah, Galloway has it. Naugus was basically this sorceror wizard thing (I never much liked his randomness, but meh) whom I think Robotnik tricked into the void (he had some grudge against Robotnik, I can’t remember the details so I might be wrong), along with King Acorn. Like Galloway said, though, 3rd season was cancelled, so we never got to know wtf was going on with him out of the void and helping Snivelly >_o I hate absent conclusions.
The Archie comics did more with Naugus than the cartoons really did.
Did he come out at one point and kept turning Robotnik’s head into that of various animals? He seemed to be on Sonic’s side at that point if I recall correctly - otherwise I would have guessed he was the guy.
But then also, wasn’t he supposed to be stuck in that other dimension because he turned to crystal when staying out too long and stuff and… bah. It all comes down to them being cheapskates cancelling the series. Harumph!
Yeah, at one point Robotnik got stuck in the void, and Snivelly wouldn’t let him back out, finding more entertainment in him being tormented by Naugus (where he kept changing Robotnik’s form and giving him animal heads and stuff). He was only on Sonic’s side, I think, by dint of him not being on Robotnik’s side - I imagine if he teamed up with Snivelly, who equally despised Robotnik, they’d both be bitchy villains XD
The series had tonnes of inconsistencies and plot holes, even without the 3rd season cancellation, but it was nifty nonetheless XD
Ok, back on the comics, did anyone see the last one with Robotnik in it? The one when Sonic and Robotnick actually FIGHT? Like, goddamn hand-to-hand combat n’shit? Fuck, it was brutal. That, I think, was the last issue with the Knothole Village story.
I don’t watch Sonic X, but I remember watching old sonic cartoons. I think there were two, I dunno.
Why’d they change Dr. Robotnik to Eggman?
Yes, SatAm which was the serious one, and then there was an acid trip-like thing that seem to be called " taosth" or " aosth" on youtube. The latter was the one with the robots Scratch and Grounder.
As for the Robotnik vs. Eggman thing… I can only assume they were very, very high on something bad. Or it’s his Japanese name. Either way, it doesn’t get much stupider.
Well, I guess the name Robotnik might be sounding a bit cheesy. Either way, I do believe Eggman was the original. You even see it written in a few places in the Wing Fortress Zone in Sonic 2.
As for that whole Super Sonic thing, well, it looked DBZ-ish even in the games, but it was well conceived there. Dashing through the levels at even higher speeds was a lot of fun, and the Hyper form’s destructive potential and underwater breathing made even underwater places fun.
I think Eggman was his Japanese name, but I don’t quote me on that. Robotnik is such a huge part of the original Western plot, as in that behind the original Sonic games, it doesn’t make much sense. The concept of Robotnik coming to Mobius in his normal form, Dr Kintobor, and then contact with Chaos Energy basically reversing everything he is, has been shifted around in places, but it’s always sort of been there. It’s probably on Wikipedia, I should check it out sometime, when I’m feeling less lazy.
