You should get the Open With… menu, with some program choices.
There should be a Browse… button on this menu.
This should open a typical Windows File Open menu. Now you just search for and double click snes9x.exe or whatever it’s called. Then click OK when you’re back at the Open With menu.
I did that exactly, and Snes9x didn’t show up. It didn’t work with Zsnes either

I followed this site carefully to get rid of a couple programs from the open with list. Well it didn’t work. So I uninstalled Acrobat JUST to get rid of its entry on open list. That worked.
So I did what you said AGAIN, and Zsnes or Snes9x STILL didn’t show up in the Open With list
I don’t know what I’m gonna do
