I picked this up on the reccomendation of others not so long ago. It’s pretty good, and the humor is pretty nice. The judgement ring isn’t intrusive enough to be irritating, and instead adds a pliable element of difficulty to the game that isn’t “in the way”.
I haven’t played it yet, but I absolutely loved the first one (You should play it if you haven’t - very good, and pretty short, too), and I only hear that the second one is better than the first. Definitely plan on playing it ASAP.
Yes, you really should play the first game if you can, the second gets even better if so. There are a few inside jokes and quite a shocker towards the end of disc one that you’ll miss without having played the prequel.
I love the games to bits, the characters are all so wonderfully anti-cliché, though I still want to kill most of the female cast for being ninnies or Mary Sues. Ah well. The men gets the job done, at least.
Shadow Hearts is my third favorite RPG series, after Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior. After playing both games, my response to pretty much everything wanted to be “Bite me!”.
The games were really fun. I really don’t have any complaints about the games either. I highly playing the games in series becuase their stories are strongly connected. My friend and I are eagerly awaiting Shadow Hearts III.
I haven’t really seen a copy of the first one lying around, but while the two games have been said not to be intricately related, I think I’d enjoy the second one a lot more if I had played the first one.
I’ve been asking around for Shadow Hearts (Used or new) for a while now and I’m having no luck. I really want to play this game again. I might go and buy the second just so I don’t have the same trouble finding it as I am with the first game.
I also want to play Koudelka, but probably bother with whether or not it’s before or after these.
Edit: Are these games as rare in your areas as they are mine?
Edit Edit: Sorc, did you play the first? A friend of mine tells me not to mess with the second until I’ve finished the first
No, I didn’t, but I mentioned earlier that I might enjoy the second one a lot more had I played the first one. There’s a lot of relation between the two, recurring characters and such. They sometimes talk about things from the first game that, since I haven’t played it, I don’t understand. I would reccomend playing the first one first, since from my experience with the second, you would probably enjoy it more. If your like me and you like that kind of thing.
