Yes.
Fixed it. Thanks. No more innocents will have their game spoiled now!
Necropost, but did anyone who played Arc the Lad tots REALLY HATE the battle arena? Damn. Talk about wasting time to get extra characters. Especially if you die right in the middle of it and spend an hour just to catch up where you left off. Geesh.
I didn’t bother with the Arena. I knew that it would lead me just realizing how bad my characters were.
Maru is the best character in that whole game, oh my gosh. NOTHING beats that dude. Oh, and thanks Eva, now I realize I STILL have to beat that final boss…crap.
…Someone besides me likes WA2? I’m stunned. STUNNED I tell you.
The arena in TOTS is good if you have a chart to tell you when it is safe to back out, as there are some very nice consolation prizes if you stop late in them rather than letting yourself be killed. Other than that they tend to suck.
Yeah the enemies are insanely hard. I mean, you have to level up, have at least 50 Good herbs, and THEN have 999 Spirit Stones. Well I did. And then finally have enough money to buy into the thing. Very time consuming, but rewarding.
And Maru gets on my nerves, hehe.

I know. This is my first playthrough, so I’m actually playing without cheats and hints (which always bothered me during first playthroughs-I felt like I was missing everything). next time I play, I’m printing that list off, dammit.
I absolutely love AtL:TotS. I really hope you have lot’s of fun with it. Hint: stay overleveled!
We should talk. 8)
Dalton, how can you play WA2? I get headaches from looking at that horrible font in message boxes.
I too loved it it remains as one of my favorite “summer” games, right there next to so2.
What, you guys never played your games according to season? Psssh.
I read a book named Xenogears once. How does the game compare?
Eva I might just have to take you up on your earlier offer from Setz’s thread where he mentioned meeting me.
EDIT: Xenogears… book? As in… novel?
GIVE. NOW.
The only Xenogears book is Perfect Works, the artbook/plot explanation that was never released on english. There’s a very incomplete translation in Gamefaqs and the Scanlation group Aku-Tenshi is planning on doing a massive Translation-Edit (Like a manga), but the latter is not going to be ready any time soon.
Zep is joking about the fact that 70% of the game is reading dialogue, just like I joke about 70% of Xenosaga being a movie.
Holy fuck, you do that too?
My friend Tim and I always joke about how Xenogears is like a book, and Xenosaga is a movie. The day after I bought Xenogsaga, he’s like: “Did you have fun watching Xenosaga?”, and the day after I bought Xenogears, I’m like: “I really liked reading Xenogears yesterday!”.
Yeah, the storyline so far has failed to capture my interest…I’m just playing through to have some fun, not to get deeply involved (ironically, arc the lad interested me more than this with its mediocre and cliched let’s save the world plot from my brother).
Xenogears and AtL: TotS are very good examples of games I like, for almost totally different reasons:
Xenogears has three-dimensional characters, a guy who shares my name, a storyline that’s different from any other game and has a tendency to keep me involved. It has nice music too.
Atl:TotS is a game that has characters that are pretty simplistic, and deals with a very common storyline. It has nice music too.
Is AtL: TotS a better game than Xenogears to me? Naw. But their both good games. TotS is hardly as epic as Xenogears winds up being but it plays it’s cards right. It’s succeeds for the same reasons the Lunar series does. The Lunar games are run-of-the-mill RPG’s that only stand out because the people who made them, I believe, knew exactly waht they wanted, and concentrated on delivering on it. Instead of making a mediocre RPG that tries to be something more they just made a mediocre RPG that knew what it was and wouldn’t to be the best it could at what it was. That’s why I like it.
TotS is the same way. It almost makes me feel the same way I do about Lunar. It actually deals with a theme that I, uh, haven’t seen touched very often by video games. The people making it didn’t waste their time trying to make card battles are something incredibly innovative that they could fail at. They focused on a large cast of characters and letting the story be more of a backdrop for them. Two sides of a story can be just as good, or even better than just one great one. Or at least, that’s what TotS manages to convince me at times, because it’s story really isn’t all that good.
Both Kharg and Darc are jerks in their own way. The fact that the game makes me interested in two teams of jerks interests me.
I need to stop talking so much. :thud:
Yes I was joking…but I do also own Perfect Works so I wasn’t joking at the same time
Okay I have a big question. What the HELL is going on? I have been trying to follow everything with the assumption that gears is going to be full of surprises. But up until now, I’ve lost the storyline and I find it hard to follow. Can anyone (nudge nudge, Seraphin) write me up a little summary oh what’s going on? I’ve just arrived in Nisan so I would like everything up until that event explained- and NO FORESHADOWING. Just give me the facts as the game presents them. Pleeeeease ;_;
Xenogears? Well, everything up until now has been almost all foreshadowing, but I’ll write a little checklist on what has happened so far.
Well I mean like don’t link one event to a future event that I have not played through yet (like I said, I’ve just arrived in Nisan)
