So, I just ordered the supplement Savage Species: Playing Monstrous Characters last night. Has anyone ever seen/used this book in a campaign? I’m thinking about starting a campaign with the players having the option to play as monsters. So, anyone know anything about it?
Monster PCs, right?
Wanted to play as a Aquatic Elf once, don’t know why. =/
Edit : Also wanted to try winged folks and stuff like that. I’m bizzare…
I’m obsessed with playing as a Minotaur…
But anyway, Aquatic Elves are cool, except for the fact that if they are out of a body of water for more than an amount of hours equal to their level they suffocate and die…
Shit, if I had known that, I woulda encouraged Booken to play! And built a cage…
I once played a firbolg (actually a reincarnated dwarf) in a game some time ago, but that was still in the days of second edition. Although I had a strength score of 23, my other statistics were relatively average.
Firbolgs are cool…half giants…they re-introduced them in Monster Manual II.
Got the book, But…Eh, most of the ECL’s are a bit…shall we say…Screwed? Anyways, good feats, and good shit for Prestige classes, but overall,…Meh
My dungeon master was obviously not too concerned about my character in combat; despite his high strength score and the fact that he wielded a dwarven great axe in each hand, he suffered the usual penalties for smiting smaller opponents common to giants.
